One of the demonstrations I shared at our clubs this month is the "Starburst" technique. As a demonstrator, I receive a magazine every other month called "Stampin' Success". Lots of wonderful ideas in this magazine and the Nov/Dec issue included this great technique!
You can see the "starburst"
Here's a little "visual" tutorial explaing this easy and fun technique, but first the supplies I used
Stamp Sets: Festive Flurries (131778 W, 131781 C page 30 Holiday Catalog); Joy to the World (131796 W, 131799 C, page 24 Holiday Catalog)
Card Stock: Coastal Cabana, Whisper White
Ink: Coastal Cabana
Big Shot: Circle Framelits (130911, page 186)
My card is 5 1/2" square, so I cut the second layer (Whisper White) 5 1/4".
Cut a piece of copy paper 5 1/4". For the focal point on your card, you will want to cut either a circle or some frame for your sentiment. Use this piece and draw around it on the copy paper
Add a pencil "dot" in the center of your circle and then, using a ruler, draw lines through the dot
Using your snips, cut out every other piece JUST TO THE CIRCLE
Adhere this piece to your 5 1/4" Whisper White card stock with removable adhesive
Stamp the pieces
Remove "mask" and you have a Starburst!!
Add focal point and attach to front of card
Really quite simple and here are some more samples
After adding the "mask", I spritzed this using a Stampin' Spritzer (126185, page 164) and a mixture of Midnight Muse ink, rubbing alcohol and some Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz (118772, page 164)
These next cards I made using the Red (121790), Silver (124005) and Champagne (127885) Glimmer Paper (page 156)
I added a piece of Season of Style Designer Series Paper (132340, page 23 Holiday Catalog) and the Wonderful Wreath Stamp Set (132748, page 34 Holiday Catalog)
First I cut a piece of the Season of Style DSP 5 1/4" square and then I cut the glimmer paper 5 1/4" square and made my circle and lines on the back - then cut out every other piece and placed it over the striped paper
I did the same technique with this card, using the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper - cut the striped piece 5 1/4" square and then a piece of Silver Glimmer Paper cut 5 1/4" and drew my lines on the back and cut out the pieces. I used Christmas Collectibles (131772 W, 131775 C, page 35 Holiday Catalog) for the focal point.
And one more......Champagne Glimmer Paper
I used Very Vanilla with the Champagne Glimmer paper. And cut out the ornament with the Holiday Ornament Framelits (127816 Holiday Carryover). The sentiment is from Remembering Christmas (131760 W, 131763 C, page 28 Holiday Catalog). I gold embossed it!
Let me know if you have any questions - this is a WOW technique and I hope you will try it!
