We are back in the swing with Technique Tuesday - I took a couple of months off and was SO glad to get back into the saddle again and ready to take off!!
For September's Technique Tuesday we learned about Two-Step Stamping and the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig. A lot of gals have purchased the SAMJ, but it's quite intimidating, so they haven't even used it. But it's SUCH a useful tool. Have you used yours lately? Don't have one? I recommend it highly!
The card we made in class is this one - I fell in LOVE with this color combination from a card I swaped at the Stampin' Up Convention. Baja Breeze and Midnight Muse. The I wasn't going to purchase this stamp set, but after seeing it made up......well, it's NOW in my collection!
Absolutely stunning, eh?
First I'll give you the supplies and then the instructions on how to do Two-Step Stamping

Stamp-A-Ma-Jig
Instructions
Method #1
- Stamp the base image.
- Position and stamp the overlay or adjoining image.
Method #2
Stamp-a-ma-jig
The Stamp-a-ma-jig comes with two pieces: the Stamp-a-ma-jig handle and the plastic imaging sheet. The handle has a T-shaped top portion, which makes it easy for right-handed stampers and
left-handed stampers.
- Align the plastic sheet in the T-shaped top of the Stamp-a-ma-jig, making sure that the corner of the sheet is placed squarely into one corner of the Stamp-a-ma-jig.
- Stamp your image on the sheet, placing the stamp squarely in the corner of the Stamp-a-ma-jig.
- Place the stamped plastic sheet on your project where you want the stamped image to be.
- Keeping the plastic sheet in place, place the Stamp-a-ma-jig on the stamped corner of the plastic sheet.
- While holding the Stamp-a-ma-jig in place, remove the plastic sheet, place the stamp in the
corner of the Stamp-a-ma-jig, and stamp on your project.
If you have a favorite set that needs the Stamp-a-ma-jig, you can make permanent image sheets
to keep in the stamp case. Cut Window Sheets or Card Stock Vellum into small squares and stamp images from that set on the sheets using the Stamp-a-ma-jig and StazOn ink. Put those Window Sheets in the stamp case, and then when you go to stamp, you already have your stamps lined up on the Window Sheets.
QUICK TIP
Use lighter ink for the base image and darker ink for the overlying image.
I just so happened to have done a video tutorial on the SOMJ, so click here and you can watch how it's done!!

Here are some more samples I made using Two-Step Stamping and the SAMJ
Stamp Sets: Stippled Blossoms (126745 W, 126747, C page 78) Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370 W, 127802 C Page 133)
Card Stock: More Mustard, Very Vanilla, Orchard Harvest Designer Series Paper (126895, page 28 Holiday Catalog 2012)
Ink: More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Lucky Limeade
Embellishments: Very Vanilla 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon (120999, page 172), Naturals Designer Buttons (127554, page 175), Linen Thread (104199, page 173)
Tools: Stamp-a-ma-jig (101049, page 7)
The top flower is stamped in Cajun Craze. I stamped off for the "full" stamp and then used a darker "shade" for the centers. The bottom flower is first stamped in More Mustard and then the centers are stamped with Cajun Craze. For the leaves on both cards, I used Lucky Limeade and stamped off for the "full" part and then for the "veins" I used it "full strength"
