Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper

Just LOVE this new Paisley Petals Designer Series Paper.  It's SO elegant and beautiful.  I saw this idea on Stampin' Connection, so changed it up a bit.  This has the Window Pane technique which is just gorgeous

 

Stamp Sets:  Four Frames (W: item 123440, C: item 123442), Create a Cupcake (W 121915, C 121982, page 22 Occasions Mini 2011)

Card Stock: Early Espresso, River Rocki, Marina Mist, Paisley Prints Designer Series Paper (now available with a $20 order 122367)

Ink: Early Espresso

Punches: 

Punch:  Decorative Label Punch (120907, page 30 Occasions Mini 2011), 1 1/4" Square (119865, page 202)

This is a 5 1/4 x 5 1/4" card.

Base is cut 5 1/4 x 10 1/2" and scored at 5 1/4". 

Layer 2 is Marine Mist and cut 5 1/8" x 5 1/8". 

Layer 3 is River Rock cut 4 1/8" x 4 1/8"

Layer 4 is Marina Mist cut 4" x 4"

Early Espresso pieces are punched out with teh 1 1/4" square punch

DSP is cut 1 1/8" square.  I cut a piece of DSP 3  3/8" and then cut that 1 1/8" and made sure I put the "puzzle" together!!  Love the Window Pane look

The sentiment is stamped with the Four Frames and the Happy Birthday from Create a Cupcake.  I then "framed" the sentiment with the Early Espresso - you can view a video here on how to frame your Decorative Label punched sentiments.

I used Early Espresso for the base of the card.  The DSP layer is cut 5 1/4" x 4" - I punched out using the Decorative Label Punch toward the bottom right.  I then mounted the DSP on the Early Espresso with dimensionals (104430, page 197). 

I then stamped the dotted stamp from the Four Frames set and added the "Thanks" from Fabulous Phrases.  I punched out with the decorative label punch and adhered it through the punch in the DSP - here's a closer look

 
I added a piece of Early Espresso to the top of the DSP cut 4 1/4" x 1 1/4" and I used the Scallop Border Edge on one side.  I added the 1/4" Whisper White ribbon over this piece and then mounted it with dimensionals.  I then added the Basic Pearls along the scallops.  The perfect finishing touch!!  I saw this idea on Stampin' Connection.  Loved the idea!!

Emboss Resist - a favorite technique

I just had to case the Emboss Resist that Gretchen Barron shared recently.   I LOVE embossing and find I forget to do it!!  So.....here's 4 cards I made following Gretchen's idea and using a different stamp set and sentiments!!

 
Emboss Resist - wonder what THAT is?  LOL  Yep, me too.  Had to check out my files and remember how to do it.  It's very simple, but gives an elegant effect.

EMBOSS RESIST TECHNIQUE

Wipe your chosen card stock with the Embossing Buddy.  

Stamp your image in VersaMark. 

Pour clear embossing over your image and heat set with the Heating Tool.   

Using a sponge, rub ink over the embossed image.  The ink will not stick to the embossed image thereby making it "POP"!!  Beautiful

Springtime Vintage Folder and 4 Embossed Cards in Very Vanilla

As you all know, I LOVE, LOVE the Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper.  I saw this beautiful set of cards with a folder to present them made by Pennie McCallum.  All credit goes to Pennie.  I changed the cards a bit and we made this set at Kathy's class on Saturday.  I promised the measurements, so here you are :)

First the Folder

 
Card Stock:  Very Vanilla Textured Card Stock, Very Vanilla, Rose Red, Springtime Vintage Designer Series Paper (121782, page 15 Occasions Mini 2011)

Embellishments:  Vintage Flower Adornments (121879, page 15 Occasions Mini 2011), 5/8" Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon (117291, page 191)

Punch:  5-Petal Flower (119880, page 200), Scallop Trim Border (118402, page 200)

Big Shot:Timeless Type Jr. Alphabet Set (115951, page 212)

Instructions:

Cut Very Vanilla Textured Card Stock 10" x 9 1/2".  Click here for template.  Score on the 10" side at 4 3/4" and 5 1/4".  Score on the 9 1/2" side at 3" and 3 1/4".  Following guidelines on template, cut out the bottom piece.

Fold on score lines.  This is the base folder.  Add DSP to the front to decorate as you like.  I added a piece of Rose Red Card Stock measuring 4 1/2" x 5 3/4".   The designer series paper is cut 4 1/4" wide by about 1 1/2".  I used the Scallop Trim Border Punch on the striped piece. 

To keep the ribbon in place, I added to small pieces of Rose Red Card Stock. cut 1 1/2" and folded over and adhered with either Sticky Strip or Mini Glue Dots.  You could also tie your ribbon around the front pieces before adhering to the front of the folder and add a velcro closure. 

I cut out the "CARDS" from the Timeless Alphabet with the Big Shot.

Crimped Paper Flowers or Crimped Card Stock Flowers

My downline, Cindi, shared these flowers with me and I have had a ball making them!!  They are fun and really turn out beautiful!  And you can match any color!

 

Supplies: 

Two to Three pieces of Card Stock cut 2 ½” wide (any length depending on how many flowers you want to make)

Scallop Circle Punch (119854, page 200)

Small Brad

Paper Piercing Tool (105826, page 198) and Mat Pack (105826, page 198)

Crimper  (101618, page 198)

Step 1.  Load up two pieces of  card stock in the crimper and run it through 12 times.  To make it easier, you can run it through ALMOST to the end and then before it pops out, run it back through.  Makes it much easier than reloading everytime

Step 2:  Now punch out your scallop circles from the crimped card stock. 

Supplies:

Step 2: Punch out your scallop circles from the crimped card stock. 

 
Step 3.  Run the three scallop circles (you will need 3 for each flower) again through the crimper three times

 
Step 4.  Take each scallop circle and gently tear it apart.  Start with about three scallops and separate the layers of card stock – then gently pull one back from the other – a few tears in the center won’t matter.

 

 

 
Step 5.  Layer the six scallops together and pierce them in the center with the paper piercing tool.  Add a brad (just a simple brad – doesn’t have to be fancy, because it won’t be seen) to hold all the layers together.

 
 
Step 6.  Using a sponge dauber, sponge around all edges – feathering so you can get all the layers

 
Step 7:  Start with the top scallop and scrunch it up to the center

 

Step 8.  Do this with all six layers, scrunching them up.  Don’t be shy – scrunch them really good!!

 
 
Step 9.  Now gently fold down the edges and maneuver the layers to make your flower

Monogrammed Vintage Journal

I saw this lovely Monogrammed Springtime Journal on Stampin' Connection the other day and just had to make it up for my hostess on Saturday.  All credit goes to Rochelle Gould.  She shared hers and I made different flowers, but used her idea totally.  Thanks for the inspiration Rochelle!!

 
I used the journal that Stampin' Up sells - added my crimped card stock flowers (thanks Cindi!!) and came up with this monogrammed journal.  I have to say it's really more impressive IRL that in the picture.

I love cutting out the flower petals and then curling them around a pencil.  That really gives them dimension.  And the Build A Brad.  Have you tried those?  You can stamp anything (I used the dots in the Build a Blossom Set) - then adhere them to the brad (mini glue dot) and then put the adhesive acrylic bubble over it.  WOW - really sets off that flower!!

Another Blossom Petal Punch and Build a Blossom Card

Here's another card made using the Blossom Petal Punch and coordinating Build A Blossom Stamp Set.  I used the Elegant Soiree Designer Series Paper which truly IS elegant

Embellishments:  Basic Pearls (119247, page 188)

The flower petals are stamped and then punched out with what I call the "chubby" leaves>  Then adhered around over the 2 3/8" scallop circle.  Love the simplicity, but elegance of this card!  I cased this from Francis Martin (Frenchy) from Stampin' Connection!!  Love it!
