I recently had a class and one of my demonstrations was masking. This is such a fun technique and I hope you will try it!!
Here's the card I demoed
There are some oops on the card - sorry - accidentally dropped my stamp!! But you get the picture!
Here are the measurements and then I'll walk you through the process of masking
Measurements
Thick Whisper White Card Base 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"
Whisper White 5 1/4" x 4"
Masking Technique
Cut a piece of copy paper 5 1/2"x 4 1/4"
Using the largest Layering Circle framelit, cut out a circle in the center of the copy paper
Center the 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" copy paper over the Whisper White and use a bit of removable tape to anchor it down
Stamp the cowboys boots in the circle
Stamp another pair of cowboy boots on a scrap of paper and cut out
Place the "mask" cowboy boots over the stamp ones (a post it note works good - or some more removable adhesive)
Stamp the background
Sponge over with a light color
Remove both masks (copy paper and boots)
Add sentiment and you are done!!
What a fun technique and a great way to focus on your main image!!

Here's another version - I saw this on France Martin's site. Don't you just LOVE it?
Same idea with a little twist - not a circle but I just ripped out a piece out of the center of the copy paper
I will share some more versions tomorrow!
