4- Panel Valentine Card

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

 

I wanted to share one last Valentine Card with you

This is a Fun Fold Card - I saw it first on Lyssa Zwolenk's blog and fell in love with it

Such a fun card - I shared it with my club members last month and they loved it

And now I want to share a quick tutorial - and keep watching my blog for more samples and I kinda went crazy (as usual!!)

First I'll start with a list of measurements

Card Base 11 1/2" x 5 1/4" scored at 1/4", 3 3/4" and 7 1/2" on the 11 1/2" side.  Then turn and score 5/8" JUST to the 1st score line (see picture below)

Cut one more piece of the card base color 4 1/4" x 2 3/4"

There are 5 panels to decorate

These measurements are using solid sheets - with the Valentine Card I cut the "layers" to  1/2" size, so just adjust for that

Front & Inside Front panels

Cut 2 of each

Mats 4" x 2 1/2"

Layers 3 3/4" x 2 1/4"

 

Interior 2 panels

Cut 2

Mats 4 3/4" x 3 1/4"

Layers 4 1/2" x 3"

Back Panel

Cut 1

Mat 5 1/4" x 4"

Layer 5" x 3 3/4"

Photo Tutorial for cutting card base

Score card base at 1/4" x 3 3/4" and 7 1/4" on the long side

Turn and score at 5/8" JUST to the 1st score line

Cut off that section that you just scored

Accordion fold the card base and then add Tear & Tape to the 1/4" tab

Adhere the 4 1/4" x 2 3/4" piece to this tab

Clip off the small piece at the top of the tab

Your card base is done

Now you just have to decorate your card

Here are the layers I used for the Valentine Card

I cut the mats using the above measurements and then added 1/2 the designer series paper

Valentine's Day is TOMORROW - are you ready?

Valentine's Day - Awwww  such a wonderful day to share romance.

I have a sweet, sweet card to share with you

It was fun and quick to make!!

LOVE LOVE the hearts.  I made these with the Love Notes Framelits Dies!  I just cut out one in Real Red Card Stock and one in Whisper White and then swapped out half the hearts!!

LOVE it.

Ribbon Weaving Technique - Valentine Card

A number of years ago, I tried the Ribbon Weaving Technique and I enjoyed trying it again with the 1/8" Grosgrain ribbon in the 2017 Stampin' Occasions Catalog (page 15)

This is an easy technique - looks hard but definitely isn't

I have a tutorial here to show you how easy this is

More Valentine Ideas

With 4 children and 7 grandchildren, I need LOTS of Valentine Cards, so it's been fun making different ones and I wanted to share some with you for inspiration

The following two cards are the same layout - just using different colors - leave me a comment on which one YOU like best!

 

Here's the card in the traditional Valentine Red

I added copper accents as I'm totally in love with copper

 

and here it is in Pool Party again with the copper accents

So, which one is YOUR favorite.  Leave me a comment and I will pick one comment randomly to receive a little gift!

The Love Notes Framelits Dies cut that line of hearts - isn't that just the coolest?  I found that you have to gently pull off the die and the first one I did, I actually pulled one of the hearts out - but you know it was kinda cool!!  So I left it that way!!

I also stamped the design tone on tone for the front of the card - rather hard to tell in the pictures, but love that muted effect.

                     I added a piece of copper foil sheet along the edge of the inside of the card to "frame" the hearts.  That piece measures  

5 1/2" x 3/4"

Valentine Card Swaps

My post today will be all about Valentines

I'll start with this card - it's SO fun - you wind up the Valentine and when the recipient opens the card the Valentine unwinds!!

How cool is that?

Love the color combination!

Look how Rhonda made this gatefold card! The hearts intertwine to make a closure for the card!!

   

Just gorgeous!!

Love how she used both of the hearts and intertwined them together!

But....there's MORE - a Pop-Up Twist Card!!

 

This card is stunning -

and this one is too!

And THIS is an interesting fold I hadn't seen before!!  Love how she did this

as you can see, this girl is NOT short on imagination!!

Dragonfly Dreams Swap Card - 2017 Occasions Catalog Swap Samples

I have a few more swaps to share which I know you are going to enjoy!!

This one was shared by LaVonne S

The picture does NOT do this card justice.  You can't see the beautiful detail of the Dragonflies!  

LaVonne shared the "Watercolor Puddle" technique she used on the dragonflies (I had to chuckle at this name!!)

She used Pool Party and Old Olive ink refills and smeared them on an E acrylic block.  She then spritzed the block with water and  dabbed the dragonflies in the watercolor puddle.  She checked them and then did it again to fill in the blank spots.  Once these were dry she used Clear Wink of Stella and painted them -  and then embedded them back into the card front she had cut them from.   Pretty cool technique which I really look forward to trying!!

I just love how Shelly stamped the smaller balloons and then one big balloon in a vibrant color!!

The picture doesn't show it very well, but Shelly added some "clouds" by lightly sponging over a template for a great background!

And she finished it off adding the two balloons on the inside!
