I love to find new card holders. Shelli Gardner, the co-founder of Stampin' Up shared this one on her blog recently and Crafty Carolyn from the UK shared a video. I needed some card holders for Christmas, so I got busy and made a couple of them. They are beautiful and so fun and easy to make! I highly recommend them - they can hold up to 10 cards with envelopes!
Or.....if you need a gift box for a small item, these would be GREAT!!
This is the first one I made
and then I made this one using designer series paper from the brand new 2017 Occasions (Spring/Summer) catalog. Has yours arrived yet? If you have purchased from me this past year, you should have your new catalog by now AND the new Sale-A-Bration catalog. These will be good starting January 4th.
And here's the 2nd one
And a little tutorial
Supplies
Very Vanilla card stock cut 8 1/2" x 6 5/8"
Very Vanilla Card Stock cut 11 1/8" x 7"
Mats:
Front of Box: Card Stock 6 1/2" x 4 1/2"; Designer Series Paper 6 1/4" x 4 1/4"
Top and Bottom of Box: Cut 2 of each Card Stock 4 1/4" x 3/4" Designer Series Paper 4" x 1/2"
Side of Box: Card Stock 6" x 3/4"; Designer Series Paper 5 3/4" x 1/2"
Spine: Card Stock 6 1/2" x 3/4"; Designer Series Paper 6 1/4" x 1/2
Here's a picture of the pieces you will need - I used Sweet Sugarplum Card Stock and Falling in Love Designer Series Paper
For the box cut one piece of card stock 8 1/2" x 6 5/8". Scored at 1" on all 4 sides
Adhere the mats as in picture
Cut as in picture below mitering each tab
Add Tear & Tape to the 4 tabs and assemble the box
Score the 11 1/8" x 7" piece of Very Vanilla card stock at 5" and 6 1/8"
Add the Sweet Sugarplum/Falling In Love Designer Series Paper to the spine
Add Tear & Tape to the inside of the cover and then add ribbon. You will need about 26" of ribbon so you can tie a bow
At this point I used the corner rounder and rounded all 4 corners of the outside of the book
I also corner rounded the front mat (see pictures)
Add Tear & Tape to the bare side and bottom of the box
Add the box to the inside of the cover on the right side carefully laying it next to the 6 1/8" score line
Bring the spine up and adhere the side of the box to the spine
Add the mat to the front of the box
Decorate the front as desired
Add a piece of Sweet Sugarplum Card Stock cut 6 3/4" x 4 1/2" to the left inside so the ribbon will be secure
I used the brand new very vanilla/whisper white Lace Doilies and a butterfly cut from the Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper
