Pinwheel Wedding Card using Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper

This time of the year, we need to be prepared for those June weddings, so I made another Pinwheel card using the Something Borrowed Designer Series that will soon retire with the 2015 Occasions Catalog.  Get it now before it's gone.  Did you know that is DSP is different than most?  It has FOUR sheets of three different two-sided prints.  So, there is plenty of coordinating paper to make up most any project!

TIP:  When you add a sentiment or embellishment to the front, remember to leave the LEFT side unattached, so your card will open!  Yep, been there....done that!

June Stamp of the Month Kit

It's SO exciting to have the new catalog in hand - you can see me drooling, right?  Well.....you are going to be thrilled too I'm SURE!  If you are my customer and your catalog hasn't arrived (long distance that is), just LMK and I"ll check into it - you should have it by now!!  For local customers, please feel free to stop by for your catalog.  Club members will receive their bound issue at the club meetings this week!

As a demonstrator for Stampin' Up, I have the privilege of ordering "sneak peek" items a few weeks ahead of the catalog going live.  What fun that is!!  

So with that in mind, my Stamp of the Month for June will be one of the new sets we were able to pre-order!  

Since the catalog isn't live yet, I cannot post pictures of the stamp set as I usually do, but I CAN post samples I've made with these new products!

Wonder what the Stamp of the Month Kit is?  If you have ever purchased stamps and accessories and then didn’t know what to do with them when you received them, I have the solution.  You purchase the kit (at a discount), and I will send you the kit and three projects to do up immediately.  The kit includes the stamp set and whatever else I choose in making the card kits.  I don’t include adhesives, ink and stamped images (per Stampin' Up rules), and you can substitute what you have.  These projects are fun and easy to do.  I will send you a pdf file by email with the instructions and pictures for each project and the actual product to make three projects will be included in your kit!  Plus I will include additional samples that you can use to create even more cards and projects!!

Normally this would cost $36.00 plus shipping of $3.60 for a total of $39.60

Pinwheel Card

One of the demonstrations I shared at our club meetings in April were these darling and VERY eye-catching Pin Wheel cards.  I saw this on Dawn Olfcheske's blog and just had to share them!  Again I went a little crazy in making them......as usual!!

Isn't that just striking.  They are very easy to make and turn out really fun!!

Here's a little tutorial - please LMK if you have any questions

Tools you will need

Stampin' Up Simply Scored Scoring Tool

Simply Scored Diagonal Plate

Bone Folder

Paper Snips

Start with a piece of Designer Series Paper that is 8" x 8"

Using the Diagonal plate, score all 4 sides at the 3" mark

TIP:  Be sure the side you want on the inside is flipped to the bottom

Using your paper snips, cut out all 4 "triangles" where the scores cross

Your piece should now look like this

 

Flip your piece over and score from the 1" down to the triangle

Do that on all 4 sides

Fold these sides

Then flip it over and fold up the 4 sides

Now fold in the 4 sides clockwise

The last side will be tucked UNDER the first side

Decorate as you want for the outside

When you add your embellishment, be sure and only add dimensionals to the right side so you can easily insert the last side under the first side!

The inside 

The card stock measures 4 1/8" x 4 1/8" and the Whisper White is 4" x 4"

There are so many possibilities with this fun fold!

Bag in a Box Card Holder for Regular A2 Cards

I have wanted to make up the Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper six card set and include a “purse” card holder.   I searched on the internet and the majority of the “Bags in a Box” were too small for what I wanted.  After a lot of searching, I finally experimented and came up with what would hold A2 cards!

 

This bag is big enough to hold more than the six cards I have in it, and is sturdy enough for other giftable items also!!

 

I used this as my Hostess Gifts this month and the hostesses loved them!  

Supplies for Bag in a Box Purse Card Holder

Stamp Set:  Six-Sided Sampler (W 130953, C 130956)

Card Stock  Melon Mambo  7 ½” x 5 ½”,  4 strips 11” x 1”, 2 11” x ¾”

Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper   Two pieces 10" x 6"

Mini Brads (122941)

Sticky Strip Tape (104294)

Ink:  Melon Mambo

Punches:  Large Oval (119855); Scallop Oval (119856); Scallop Edge Border (119882); 1/16^th inch Handheld punch (134363)

Instructions

 Score at 1” on all 4 sides of the Melon Mambo piece 7 ½” x 5 ½” .  Snip up to the score line on two sides as shown in picture

 

  Add Sticky Strip to all 4 tabs

   

 Assemble box with tabs on the OUTSIDE.  This is so they don’t hamper putting the cards into the box and they will be covered up.

 

•  Add sticky strip to the inside of the 10” x 6” along three sides (two short sides and one long side.  Add sticky strip to the other 10” x  6” piece along one long side

 

 

  Remove the red tape on the piece that has one strip of tape  and starting on one short side, adhere the designer series paper around the bottom of the box

 

   Remove the sticky tape on the next piece and overlapping on one short end add this piece adhering around the bottom and sides

 

   Punch one side of each 11” x 1” pieces using the Scallop Border Punch and add sticky tape to the 11” straight side

 

 

•  Add these pieces around the top and bottom of the purse – you will need two for each – start on the sides and overlap

 

• 

 

  Using the 1/16^th inch handheld punch, punch 4 small holes for the handles.  Add the handles with the mini  brads

 

 This box is stronger than most and will hold cards or other giftables!!  

Painted Blooms Cards

This idea has been on pinterest – you take the one 12” x 12” piece of DSP and cut it into six pieces and make six cards – cool way to use it! 

This is how it’s cut – each piece will be 5 ¼” x 4”.  I cut the 4” vertically and then cut the bottoms off (not shown in picture) so I could get the greatest number of flowers

We soon have to leave Paradise

Aloha again from Kauai!!  We have to agree that being in Kauai for a week has been paradise.  The island is SO beautiful and laid back - it's truly unbelievable.  We have have snorkeled, swam, shopped, eaten......what more can a person want?  Actually Sam and I didn't snorkel, but we did go in the water and it was amazing!  I will share just a few pictures of the last couple of days.....we explored the entire island from north to south and from east to west!!

Today we had a tour of the Kauai Coffee Plantation

We learned a LOT!!  Coffee grows on "trees" that live for 50+ years - the best harvest comes around 25 years.  This plantation is the biggest in the United States.  3100 acres of coffee trees.  

We didn't realize coffee grew as "cherries" and most of them have two coffee beans per cherry

That should be all for now - we have to leave this beautiful paradise on Saturday - so just Friday to enjoy this and then we head home  {VERY SAD FACES!!}
