Lattice with the Chevron Border Punch

Do you have the Chevon Border Punch?  If not, you probably will need to purchase it after seeing what you can do with it!

The chevrons are SO popular right now - and I just LOVE this technique of using two chevrons and making a lattice!

Here's the card we made in our club meeting this month

Love this monochromatic look!  Isn't that lattice look SO cool?  How did I do that?  First we punch out the bottom front of the card using the Chevron Border Punch.  Then we took an extra piece of card stock  1 1/4" wide and a bit longer than the front.  We again punched the Chevron and then turning one the opposite way, put them together.  You can actually "entwine" them and then gently pull them back and forth to get the look you want!  Easy and SO stunning.

And one other really cool thing - I cut out the sentiment with the Chalk Talk Framelits.  Then.....I used the new Scallop Tag Topper Punch - and made the "frame" for the sentiment.  LOVE it when that happens!!  The piece of Bermuda Bay Card Stock I cut was 2" x 3 1/2" - then just cut both ends with the punch - perfect frame for the Chalk Talk Framelits!

Father's Day Fun Fold Twist and Turn

I just absolutely LOVE fun fold cards and this is definitely one of those.  Credit goes to another demonstrator Vera Ellen Duffie for this card - she shared it on Stampin' Connection (a demonstrator sharing website) and also shared the directions. 

Isn't that just plain unique?  Love it!!

Here's a little tutorial - let me know if you have any questions! 

1.  Cut a piece of Bermuda Bay Card Stock 8 1/2" x 5 1/2".  Score on the 8 1/2" side at 2 3/4" and 4".  Turn and score on the 5 1/2" side at 2 3/4"

 

2.  Next score from the center at the 4" score line out to the 2 3/4" score line (picture above)

I lined it up in my Stampin' Trimmer and scored.  Not hard to do

3.  Mountain fold on the long score line from the center to the outside

4.  Fold the 2 3/4" and 4" score lines valley fold

5.  Fold the two center score lines (diagonal) mountain folds

6.  The left side center score line will be valley folded - once that is folded, your card will literally fall into place.

This is a card you might want to try with copy paper first!  It seems confusing, but really it's easy once you try it!

7.  Run the right side through the Big Shot with the Stripes Embossing Folder

8.  For the front, I cut a piece of Whisper White Card Stock 2 3/8" square.  I then cut a 2nd piece 2 3/8" square and  used my Square Framelits to cut out the center ( 2nd to smallest framelit).  I then masked this piece over the first and sponged Pool Party and Soft Suede.  I took off the mask and staped the wheat and birds in Soft Suede

I added this piece to front of the card - stamped the sentiment and added it to the side!

Graduation Gift Card Holder

I found this graduation gift card holder in an old Stampin' Discuss magazine (the magazine we receive as Stampin' Up Demonstrators).  We have a number of graduates this year, so I needed to find something!!  These are easy to make and practical for gifting either a gift card or cash!

Instructions

• Trace and cut the following from Basic Black Card Stock: one top piece and two bottom pieces
• Emboss one bottom piece using the Big Shot and the Chevron Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Adhere the left, bottom, and right sides of the embossed card stock to the matching Basic Black piece to create a pocket for the gift card.
• Stamp the "The Tassle was worth the Hassle) from Pure Gumption (or any sentiment) for the inside.  I used Whisper White and added a "frame" of Pool Party.  I used my scallop cutter with the Rotary Additions to cut along the edges!
• Cut out a piece of Pool Party from the Hat Top template about 1/4" larger all the way around.  Trim off wih the Rotary Additions and the scallop cutter.
• Cut a 5-1/2" x 1/2" strip of Very Vanilla Card Stock. Stamp "Congratulations" on the card stock in Pool Party from the Sweet Essentials Stamp Set. Adhere the strip to the cap as shown on the card and trim the excess card stock.
• Cut a 3-1/4" x 1/8" strip o fPool Party Card Stock. Adhere the strip to the cap and trim the excess card stock.
• Wrap Linen Thread around the prongs of a Candy Dots Brad Base. Attach the brad to the center of the cap and add a Pool Party Candy Dot
• Attach the top of the hat to the bottom of the hat using a Candy Dots Brad Base and a black Candy Dot.
