Halloween Bash

Oh fun - I know it's still summer and HOT (yes we have had it 90 degrees plus for way too long), but soon fall will be here and that means Halloween - such a fun time of year and I love making cards for Halloween.  Especially with all the new fun products in the Holiday Catalog!!

I have to say, I wasn't too impressed with the Washi Tape when it first came out - but I'm finding it FUN and SO easy to use and add such colors and accents to my cards!

Here's a quick easy card, that will be fun to share with all those ghosts and gobblins!!

Hee hee - Celebrate a Creepy Crawly Halloween!!!

Stamp Set:  Halloween Bash (130577 W, 130580 C, page 21 Holiday Catalog)

Card Stock:  Basic Black, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Venetian Romance Designer Series Paper (130144, page 153)

Ink:  Basic Black

Embellishments: 1/8" Pumpkin Pie Taffeta Ribbon (119253, page 173); Brights Candy Dots (130931, page 171); Witches' Brew Designer Washi Tape (132156, page 20 Holiday Catalog)

Punch:  Scallop Oval (119856) 

This was a quick, easy card.  I just added the Washi Tape to the front of the card.  Tied the ribbon around; stamped the sayings and added them with dimensionals.  Easy, peasy and SO fun!

And then I finished it off with the NEW Envelope Liners!  This is a Framelit die and you can make liners for three different sizes of envelopes:  3 1/8" x 3 1/8" (square envelopes), 5 1/8" x 3 5/8" (envelopes from the note cards) and medium envelopes 5 3/4" x 4 3/8" (page 162).  Cool, eh?

My daughter needed a wedding card, so we made one a week ago.  LOVE the colors she chose...Wisteria Wonder and Pear Pizzaz - the brides choice for colors

Grand Prize at my last Punch Art Class

One of my most favorite things to do is make sets of cards!  Just LOVE it and am always looking for ideas.  I found a wonderful idea on Chiaki Haverstick's blog.  I just fell in love with her set and just had to make them - of course not exactly like hers, but used current product!

Here's the set and I'll share each card and the box separately

Here's the box - it's just a quick A2 card box (fits 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" cards), but the LOVED using the window sheets to make it a "see-through"!!  And it has a belly band!

Stamp Sets:  Express Yourself (Hostess Set page 205) 

Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper (131390, page 151) 

Card Stock:  Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder, Coastal Cabana, Pear Pizzaz

Silver Glimmer paper (1214005, page 156)

Window Sheet (114323, page 156)

Dress Up Framelits (130101, page 187); Apothecary Accents Framelits (127003, page 187)

Embossing Folders:  Beautifully Baroque (130917); Honeycomb (129378), Chevron (127749), Fancy Fan (127751), Perfect Polka Dots (117335), Framed Tulips (121809) all on page 191  

To make the box you cut a piece of card stock 8 7/8" x 7 1/2".  Score on all 4 sides at 1 1/2".  Cut on each corner (one like side) to the score line and assemble box. 

Lid:  Cut a piece of card stock 6 1/8" x 7 1/2" and a piece of coordinating designer series paper the same measurements.  Adhere the DSP to the card stock (for weight and body).  Score on all sides at 3/4".  Before assembling the box cut out the Apothecary Accents largest framelit with the Big Shot, centering it on the lid.  (Sandwich:  Multipurpose platform, acrylic pad, lid, framelit and acrylic pad). 

Cut a piece of Window Sheet 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" and adhere it to the inside of the lid with glue dots.  Assemble box as above instructions for bottom. 

Belly Band:  Cut a piece of cardstock 1 1/2" x 11" and score at 1-5/8”, 3-1/4”, 7-3/4” and 9-3/8”.  Wrap around the box on the short side and attach the cut out piece of the Apothecary Accent to the band with glue dots.  Add your embellishments (fun flowers) and you have a beautiful box!!

Pansy Punch and Flower Shop Stamp Set

This is such a stunning card - really stands out!!

This is a Christmas card - didnlt receive many of them, but have a few to share.  There is gold embossing outlining the leaves on the flower - beautiful!

Clean and Simple (CAS)  Really like the simplicity, but the CAS of this card

Another Pansy/Flower Shop card - using Crisp Canteloupe - beautiful!!

Faux Iris Twist

I saw a beautiful card on Facebook and just had to try making it.  It's called Faux Iris Twist.  Love the way it turned out

I will share the recipe and then give you a little tutorial

Stamp Set:  Six Sided Sampler (130953 W, 130956 C, page 125)

Card Stock:  Coastal Cabana, Wisteria Wonder, Whisper White, Afternoon Picnic Designer Series Paper (131390, page 151)

Ink:  Coastal Cabana

Punch:  2 1/2" Circle (120906, page 182)

Embellishments:  Coastal Cabana 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim (130024, page 173); In-Color Boutique Details (130938, page 169)

And here's how to do this cute card

1.  Cut out 4 pieces of 3 different coordinating designer series papers 3" x 1/2".  I used Afternoon Picnic

2.  Cut a piece of Whisper White card stock 3 1/8" x 3 1/8" and one circle (any color) with the 2 1/2" circle punch

 

3.  Draw around the 2 1/2" punch piece on your 3 1/8" square Whisper White with a pencil.  Now using the circle punch punch out the circle on the Whisper White (this will be the back side of your piece)

4.  Add adhesive to the corners

5.  Start by adding one of the 3" x 1/2" pieces - turn over and center it in one corner.  Do this all the way around adding adhesive on the back as needed

6.  Add second set of 3" x 1/2" pieces to the corners

7.  Add the third layer

8.  After adhering all pieces, cut off the excess around the edges  with your paper snips

9.  Cut a piece of Coastal Cabana card stock 3 3/8" square.  Stamp sentiment on a small piece of Whisper White.  Add some adhesive to the back of the sentiment and line  up in center.  Adhere sentiment to coastal cabana piece.

10.   Add dimensionals to the top piece and then adhere over sentiment.  This gives dimension to the sentiment

11.  Add 2 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Afternoon Picnic to a piece of Wisteria Wonder cut 2 1/2" x 5 1/2".  Add small piece of 3/8" Coastal Cabana Stretch Trim to bottom and adhere to front of card.  Add In-Color Boutique piece over ribbon with glue dots.

12.  Adhere iris twist piece on front of card

Isn't that just adorable.  LOVE the look!
