Faux Embossing

Hmmm - what does THAT conjure up?  Faux Embossing.  Gina showed us this technique at our last Central Oregon Demonstrators meeting and it was beautiful.  So I copied her card - well with a different stamp set, but pretty much the same!  LOVE it

It's a bit hard to see in this picture, but the "faux" part is a bit of a shadow which really makes the image stand out!

Here's a closer picture

Can you see the "shadow" just a smidgen to the right of the white image?  That's Faux Embossing!!

Love the effect!  And don't you just LOVE that butterfly - SO delicate - it's from the Backyard Basics stamp set .....AND....there are coordinating framelits - so I didnt' have to cut it out!!  YIPPEE!!

This is a very simple technique, but SO effective.

First stamp your image in White Craft Ink.  Then, using the Stamp-A-Ma-Jig (101049, page 197) stamp the image on your imaging sheet and then line it  right on top of the craft image.  Then move it over just a smidgen.  Remove the imaging sheet and stamp.  See how easy that was?

I did both the image and the butterfly!  Try it - I'm SURE will love it.  I suggest using any color (except black or white) of card stock and use the matching ink! 

Here's one more card using Coastal Cabana - it's not as vibrant but still love the effect

Yes I went a little crazy once I got started.  I saw THIS card on the Stampin' Up Blog and it was posted on Pinterest.  PLUS I was able to meet one of my downline this past week and SHE shared it with me too.  LOVE how it turned out!!

To make the "Washi Tape" oval I laid out a grid of the Yellow Gingham tape on Whisper White Card Stock.  I then cut out the smaller of the ovals (2nd from the smallest) - then positioned the 3rd from smallest to make the frame.

And now that we have the MAGNETIC PLATFORM it's SO easy to keep your framelits in place!  LOVE IT!!

This is definitely a MUST HAVE if you have a Big Shot and use the Framelits and Edgelits.  It's a wonderful tool - remember how we had to use post it notes to keep the framelits in place?  No longer.....this Magnetic Platform is just super cool!!  You can see it on page 184 (Item # 130658)

Washi Tape - have you tried it yet?

So....when they first brought out the Washi Tape, I wasn't too impressed - hmmmm - what can I DO with it!  Then I started seeing samples of it and WOW - I'm loving it!!  It's fun and you can do just about ANYTHING with it.  It's forgiving - yes forgiving.  You can put it down and if you don't like the placement, you can pull it up again!!  Cool!

TIP:      So I opened my Washi Tape and it was "floating" around on my desk (don't ask....my desk is always a mess!!)  What to do with the Washi Tape so I could find it when I wanted it?????  Ah ha....brilliant idea!  Have you checked out the Bags and Tags Pretty Packing on page 158 and 159?  These are SO fun - I haven't order the gift bags yet.....next order, but I did order the Tag a Bag Gift Boxes. 

They are 6 7/8" x 2 1/8" x 2 1/2" and there are 8 Kraft boxes in each kit.  They come with acetate sleeves, so you can see through them (check out the cookies packages on page 159).  So....what a great way to store my Washi Tape - I have it handy AND it won't get lost on my desk....

One more Vellum colored card

I almost forgot I made another card using the Vellum and color on the back.  We have LOTS of campers in our family, so this will fit perfectly!

I stamped the campfire, lantern and pot in Black Staz-on on the vellum - this time I didn't use the White embossing powder, just stamped.  Then colored them with a sponge dauber on the back and handcut them and added them to my card!!
