Faux Tile Technique

I just LOVE how this card turned out - reminds me of real tile!!

Stamp Sets:  Elements of Style (118611 W, 120045 C page 113);

Card Stock:  Island Indigo, Soft Suede, Whisper White

Ink:  Island Indigo, Soft Suede

Embellishment:  Soft Suede 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon (122967, page 173)

Punch:  Scallop Trim Border (118402, page 183)

You can kind of see in the picture that I lightly sponged Soft Suede ink over the "grid" lines before stamping in the Island Indigo!

Technique Tuesday for April

Our Technique Tuesday for April included this fun technique - Faux Tile or Grid Pattern.  These are easy, and add such a great dimension to your creations

Here's the card we made

Stamp Sets:  Netting (122655, page 122); Field Flowers (122760 W, 122762, page 78); Thoughts and Prayers (113252 W, 127805, page 54)

Card Stock:  Basic Black, Very Vanilla, Soft Suede

Ink:  Soft Suede, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze

Embellishment:  Soft Suede 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon (122967 page 173)

Big Shot:  Honeycomb Embossing Folder (129378, page 6 Spring Catalog)

Tools:  Stampin' Up Simply Scored Scoring Tool (122334, page 181)

To make the "Grid" or "Faux Tile", line up your card stock on the Simply Scored Scoring tool. Score every 1/2" (or 1" your preference) either diagonally or on the square.  Turn the card stock 90% and score again.

Next ink up a background stamp and stamp over the grid.  Don't press too hard, because you want your ink on the raised part and not into the "grout"

Add whatever stamps and sentiments you want and then finish your card.

Happy Mother's Day

Almost timefor Mother's Day, so we had to make this beautiful Mother's Day card. I love gatefold cards - they are just another twist on beautiful cards.

Stamp Sets:  Elements of Style (118611 W, 120045 C page 113); Wonderful Mother (126505 W 126507 C, page 26)

Card Stock  Whisper White, Basic Black

Ink:  Black Staz-on

This is a quick and easy card, but love how it turned out

Here's the inside

For the gate fold card, you use 1/2 sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" card stock.  Score at 2 1/8" and 6 3/8" - these both fold into the center - easy, peasy!

The front "flap":  Whisper White cut 3 1/4" x 3 1/2" and the Basic Black 3 1/2 x 3 3/4".  Be sure and just put adhesive on the left side, so your card will open :)

Elegant Happy Birthday Stipple Rose

I just felt the need at the March clubs to make an elegant Birthday Card.  Nothing really new and great, but the Stipple Blossoms Stamp Set which is a two-step stamp set, is SO beautiful.  Yes, I didn't think I needed it - have lots of rose stamps, but when I saw this stamp set used on a card.....well.....I fell and fell HARD!!

And it's always great to be reminded of how to use the Stam-A-Ma-Jig.  Do you have one and haven't used it because it has intimidated you? I had mine for two years before I opened the package.  No JOKE!  But now I find it SO helpful!!  I did a video a while back, so I'm going to post it again, just so you see how easy it is to use!!

Just one more Diamond Fold Card BACKWARDS

Yes I decided to go backwards on this Diamond Fold Card - perfect for a child - wouldn't they just love the Oh! Whale?

So on this card, I turned it around and added a "diamond" on the back with the Oh, Whale! clearlit die

It's hard to understand unless you have it "in hand", so I recommend you follow the tutorial here
and then just turn the card around....fun, fun

The other technique we had for March was the Diamond Fold Card.  This is a fun and easy card to make - it uses a piece of card stock or designer series paper that is cut 12" x 4"
