For our March Technique Tuesday, we tried the Faux Patina technique. I had to look up "Patina" because I wasn't sure what it was. So Merriam-Webster says "a usually green film formed naturally on copper and bronze by long exposure and a surface appearance of something grown beautiful especially with age or use.
So for the Faux Patina technique we needed to make it appear is was old and had formed that "patina" from age......
Here's the card we made
First I will give you the supplies and then a little tutorial on how to do this fantastic technique.
Stamp Sets: Feeling Sentimental (SAB now retired), Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370 W, 127802 C page 133)
Card Stock: Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, Pool Party
Ink: Pool Party, Island Indigo, Soft Suede, Early Espresso (or your choice of colors - 1 light/neutal color, 1 medium colors and 1 dark color) , VersaMark, Gold Embossing Powder (109129, page 133)
Embellishments: Pool Party Sycamore Street Ribbon (SAB now retired); Basic Rhinestones (119246 page 175); 5/8" Victoria Crochet Trim (118481 page 173)
Big Shot: Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder (127819)
Tools: Heat Tool; Stampin' Sponges (101610, page 179)
Instructions:
Run the Very Vanilla piece through the Big Shot using the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.
Using Stampin' Sponges, sponge over the raised embossed figures with your choice of colors starting with the light color, then the medium colors and then the dark color. Sponge lightly so you don't deboss the embossed areas.
Soak the piece with your embossing buddy as the card stock will be quite "wet" with the ink.
Lightly and randomly rub the VersaMark™ Ink Pad over the top of the embossed design.
Sprinkle on gold embossing powder, then heat set with the heat tool.
Finish your card!
Is that cool or what - over the next few days I'll be sharing some other samples I made. LOVE this technique
