I did get a bit distracted over the last few days - prepping for my Christmas Stamp-A-Stacks. Yes i mean "Stacks". I had one on Saturday in Prineville. Two more to come. Want to attend? I'm having another one in Salem on Friday evening, November 16th and then one in Portland on Saturday, December 1st. Just contact me for more information.....
But back to my Christmas projects. I shared my first project here and the 2nd project here
For today, I have a fun and easy card that would go FAST if you are looking to make a bunch of them for Christmas. I demonstrated this technique in my clubs last week and everyone loved them.
Isn't this technique cool? It's called "Masking" and it's SO easy, quick and you can produce LOTS of card in a short period of time. I saw this on France Martin's blog and just had to try it!! First I'll give you the supplies and then I'll give you a little tutorial on how it's done!
Stamp Sets: Snowflake Soiree (127922 W, 127925 C, page 5 Holiday Catalog), Make a Mitten (127940 W, 127943 C, page 11 Holiday Catalog)
Card Stock: Whisper White
Ink: Midnight Muse, Marina Mist
Embellishment: Baker's Twine Whisper White (124262, page 172)
Punch: Mitten Builder (127824, page 11 Holiday Catalog)
Tools: Stampin' Sponges (101610, page 179)
First you tear a piece of card stock that is a bit larger than the front of your card. Add a little bit of removable adhesive to each side and mask over the front of your card base
Now just sponge over the "open" space - starting with the lighter ink and adding some depth with the darker ink.
Next, still leaving the masks in place, stamp your images - I used the snowflakes from the Snowflake Soiree set and Midnight Muse ink.
Remove the "masks" and add your embellishments. I stamped the Make a Mitten and punched them out with the Mitten Builder Punch - added a little bow with the Whisper White Baker's Twine and secured the mittens with dimensionals. Stamped Merry on the right. DONE!! As you can see, my masks are well used as I made a bunch of these cards!!
Here are some more samples
This card uses the French Foliage stamp set (120845 W, 121166 C, page 86) and Fabulous Phrases (117002 W, 120501 C, page 133). The colors I used to sponge were Lucky Limeade, Pumpkin Pie, More Mustard and Cajun Craze. The Bronze button is from the Holiday Catalog (127833, page 32 Holiday Catalog) and the ribbon is the 3/8" Summer Starfruit Stitched Satin Ribbon.
And for Halloween I cased Cindee Wilkinson's darling card
I sponged with pumpkin pie and More Mustard. The stamps sets used are Toxic Treats (127898 W, 127901 C, page 25 Holiday Catalog), Wicked Cool (118738 W 120600 C, page 28). Whisper White card Stock.
Quick, simple and easy, eh? If you try this cool technique, please let me know and I'll be happy to share you creativity on my blog. Comments are ALWAYS welcome.
