Winter Memories Stamp Set Swap Card

This is the card my sister is taking to the Stampin' Up Tacoma Regional Mini Convention this weekend.  I just LOVE these skates in the Winter Memories Stamp set - in fact all the stamps!!  Beautiful

It's hard to see in this picture, but she "embossed" with the framelit, so that the stand out and really look neat! 

First she  cut out the Labels Collection Framelit and used the "negative" to mask and sponged with Bashful Blue ink.  Then she stamped the skates and ran it through the Big Shot to "raise emboss" it

Triple Time Stamping Swap for Tacoma Regionals

Here is the swap my daughter made for the Tacoma Regionals Stampin' UP Mini Convention.  I just LOVE this triple time stamping technique - dont' you?  You can see how to do this here.  I saw this on Dawn O's site and just fell in love with it.  In fact, we are going to learn this technique in our clubs this month.  I actually went quite crazy and made a bunch of cards which I will be showing in a couple of days!

One more swap - using the Window Frames Framelits Stampin' Up Dies

As I stated, I really have been using the Window Frames Framelits Dies.  They are SO fun, fast and easy to use. 

Here's another Christmas Card I made for my swaps for the Tacoma Regional Convention.  The new Make  a Mitten Stamp set and coordinating punch are SO fun to use!!  I used Stampin' Write markers to stamp the mittens and then just punched them out!!  Saves SO much cutting with scissors!

More Swaps for the Stampin' UP Regional Mini Convention

I can't wait to get to Tacoma and attend the Stampin' Up Regional Mini Convention.  I love meeting and seeing new friends and old Stampin' UP friends.  One of the fun things we do is swap cards for ideas.  These ladies are SO creative - it's SUCH a lot of fun!!

Here's a couple of cards I made - I saw an idea something like this on Stampin' Connection ( our demonstrator stamping up sharing website) and just had to try it!!

It's hard to see, but I cut out the ornament with the newHoliday Ornaments Framelits and the silver glimmer paper.  The picture definitely doesn't do it justice.  Check out my next card (below) to see how I used the "negative" part of the cutout!!

To make the cool look for the background, I ran the Core'dinations Cherry Cobbler Card Stock through the Big Shot with the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.  I then sanded it off with the brand new Stampin' Sanding Block.  Worked like a charm and actually gives the paper a real "wall paper" feeling.  Really neat!

I'm BAAAAACK - Halloween here we come.....

I"m sorry I've not been posting the last couple of weeks.  I'm headed out on Friday to the Stampin' Up Regional mini convention, so have been prepping for that.  Yes another round of swaps.  I'm cutting paper in my sleep let me tell you {BIG GRIN}.  And I absolutley LOVE it.

What happens at a Stampin' Up Regional Convention.  Well......we have a wonderful and warm welcome by Shelli Gardner (the co-founder of Stampin' Up).  She usually shares fun information and then does a project or two or three.  Fun, fun! 

Then we get to see local gals share their creativity.  SO fun to see other demonstrators get really, really nervous on the stage (oh, I'm SO bad!!).  They do a wonderful job and share some fantastic projects with us. 

Then we have lunch - yummy!  Then we do some make 'n takes.  All the supplies are provided and we get to do fun fun projects.

More demonstrations - this is a day long event attended by many local demos and their guests.  It's a "taste" of convention and SO fun.

But convention is ONLY for Stampin' Up Demonstrators.  Would YOU like to attend a Stampin' Up Convention?  Just ask me how YOU can become a demonstrator and join the fun.

I fell for this set (Bootiful Occasions) when the catalog first came out and just now have gotten around to using it!!  This idea of the inlaid embossing was shared sometime ago and it's just a fun way to add color and "depth" to your creations without the extra layers!!

To "inlay" the circles, I cut them out, adhered them to the black layer and ran them through the Big Shot with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

Tip:  I use Black Staz-on ink when I'm going to do any coloring - the Staz-on ink won't run as it's  a pigment ink and not water based!

Wood Mount to Clear Mount - changing your Stamps

Have you considered changing your wood mount stamps to clear mounts?  Some would never bother doing this, but if you are thinking of saving space, this is a great way! 

How do you go about remounting your stamps to Clear Mounts?

Here is a little tutorial - thanks to my daughter, Heidi, for letting me take pictures.

What you will need:

1.  Clear Mount Stamp Cases (119105, page 7) 

2.  Clear Mount Cling Foam (124236, page 7)

3.  Multipurpose Liquid Glue (110755, page 177)

4.  Scissors - either Craft and Rubber Scissors (103179, page 180) or Paper Snips (103579, page 180)

5.  Fine Point Sharpie

Step 1.  You will need to take your rubber off the wood block - you can either put it in the microwave for about 10 seconds, or Heidi just pulled it off the wood.  You will not need the foam cushion - that can stay on the wood block.  Carefully peel the rubber off the foam cushion

Here Heidi is taking the rubber off the foam cushion - this is a new unmounted wood set, but it's the same idea as taking the rubber off the wood - just peel the cushion away from the rubber

Now you have a piece of unmounted rubber

Step 2.  There are two sides to the Clear-Mount Cling Foam.  One side is VERY STICKY and one side is the cling.  Lay your rubber on the sticky side (don't take off the cover yet!!)

Step 3. Draw around each stamp with your fine point Sharpie. 

Step 4.    Cut out each image with your Craft and Rubber Scissors

Step 5.  Remove the cover from the sticky side and carefully line up your rubber.  Trim up with your paper snips

 Step 6.  Now you will mount your stamp sticker image.  Since this was a new set that Heidi mounted, she didn't have to take the sticker off the wood.  This can be tricky if you stamp has been mounted for a long time.  You can carefully pull it off (the sticky will come with it), or if that doesn't work, try microwaving it again for just a few seconds.  Now remove the covering for the cling side and mount your sticker.  Heidi trimmed the sticker a bit to reveal some of the cling.

Step 7.  The last step that Heidi does, is to add Multipurpose Tombow glue to the sticker side of the stamp.  She lets this dry overnight.  It's "tacky" and this works great in keep your stamp on the clear blocks.

Here is the set completed - Heidi takes a copy of the stamp sheet for the front of the Clear Mount Case.  She also keeps her rubber inside the case to put the stamps in and she knows immediately if the set is complete

For older stamp sets, you can stamp them on a piece of paper or take a copy of the stamp set from the catalog
