The "other" side of the coin from "Masking" is "Reverse Masking". That is where you take the "negative" and use it sponge your colors - remove the negative tempate and stamp. Love this technique and I have a number of samples to share.
Here's one I made for my son for his FIRST Father's Day. There new baby girl, Brooklyn Ember, was born May 31st. What a delight!!
And I actually did a Double Mask on this card - instructions below!
Stamp Sets: The Open Sea (WM 123030, CM 123032, page 104), Delightful Dozen (WM 122650, CM 122652, page 140), Up, Up and Away (WM 122755, CM 122757, page 37)
Card Stock: Whisper White, Basic Black
Ink: Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Black Staz-on
Embellishment: 1/8" Mini Brads (122941, page 174)
Punch: Modern Label (119849, page 183)
Big Shot Labels Collection Framelits (125598, page 191)
I very lightly sponged the background of the Whisper White Card Stock. Next I cut out using the Big Shot and the Labels Framelits (2nd from the smallest). I used the "negative" part of the framelit and sponged starting at the bottom with Melon Mambo, then Pumpkin Pie and last with Daffodil Delight. I then used the "negative" of a 1 1/4" circle cut out and sponged inside that to make the moon
Next stamp was to stamp the ship and birds and the sentiment. I cut the Modern Label punchout in half, added the mini brads and adhere them to the front. Added the basic black to the Whisper White base - done!!
