I apologize for not getting this tutorial up before this. Been a busy few weeks - what with Spring Break and we LOVED having our kids home. So.....I finally found a few minutes today to make another card and take pictures.
We made one of these cards in the March club meetings and everyone loved them. A bit of a learning curve, but easy, peasy once you have the measurements!
Here's the card I made today using the new Designer Series Paper from the Summer Smooches Suite which you can now order - more about that at the end of this post
Stamp Set: Happiest Birthday Wishes (WM 122485, CM 122617, Hostess Set page 10), Mixed Bunch (WM 125535, CM 125537, page 17 Occasions Mini)
Card Stock: Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper (125409)
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango
Embellishments: Basic Rhinestones (119246, page 198), Daffodil Delight 1/2" Seam Binding (Summer Smooches Special Item # 125583), Summer Smooches Designer Fabric Brads (Summer Smooches Special Offer Item # 125589)
Punch: Blossom (125603, page 17 Occasiosn Mini)
Big Shot: Beautiful Wings Embosslit (118138, page 216)
Simply Scored Scoring Tool (122334, page 16 Occasions Mini_
Here is a quick tutorial - feel free to email me, if you have any questions!! [email protected]
Step 1. Start with a piece of card stock or designer series paper that is 12" x 8"
Score at 2", 4", 8" and 10". Make a LIGHT score line at the 6" mark (doesn't need to be a deep line)
TIP: The Scoring Stylus has two ends - one is smaller than the other. Use the smaller end for scoring card stock and the bigger end for scoring designer series paper. Using the small end can cut through the dsp
Step 3:
With a ruler and a pencil, mark the top short end at the 5 1/2" mark and the bottom short end at the 2 1/2" mark
Top Short End marked at 5 1/2"
Bottom Short end marked at 2 1/2"
Step 4:
Line up the 5 1/2" mark and 2 1/2" mark on the paper cutter and cut
Top (5 1/2" mark) lined up on the paper cutter
Bottom 2 1/2" lined on at the bottom of the cutter
After cutting, this is what you have - two pieces of paper that are equal and cut on the diagonal
Step 5:
Mark the larger end of both pieces in the middle at the 2 3/4" mark.
Step 6:
Mark the other end of each piece (small end) at the 1 1/4" mark
Step 7:
Line up your ruler between these two tick marks (2 3/4" at one end and 1 1/4" at the other end and make little marks on the 2", 6" and 10" scoring lines
Step 8:
The next step is to make your cuts. You will cut from the bottom edge up to your pencil mark at the 2", 6" and 10" marks. You will cut both pieces, but one will be from the straight edge and the 2nd one will be from the crooked edge
You will now accordian fold both pieces on the 2", 4", 8" and 10". It's not critical which way you fold as it will work out!
Step 10:
You put the two pieces together, matching up the cuts.
TIP: It's easiest to start at the 6" cuts. Put them together and then the two outside ones (2" and 10")
Step 11:
Once that is accomplished, you now open up and lay it flat - burnishing your folds
Step 12:
When you are done folding your card will look like this when it stands up
The last step is to decorate it!! Have fun!!
Closed it will fit into our Medium Envelopes (107301, page 182)
