I had this post all done last night and then my internet went down - bah humbug!! I wasn't a happy camper - teach me to save my posts often!! {SAVE}
The second technique we did for Technique Tuesday was Watercoloring with Stampin' Write Markers. This is a fairly easy technique with fun results. The one thing I learned while practicing this technique is that you really NEED to use watercolor paper. The Whisper White Card Stock just won't work. It's pills and you definitely don't achieve a satisfactory resuls (I speak from experience!!)
Here's the card we made in class
Stamp Sets: Awash with Flowers (WM 117062, CM 120549, page 110), Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370, page 157)
Card Stock: Real Red, Whisper White, Watercolor Paper (122959, page 181)
Ink: Real Red, Jet Black Staz-on (101406, page 203) Real Red Stampin' Write Marker, Aqua Painter (103954, page 203)
Embellishment: 5/8" Real Red Satin Ribbon (117286, page 195)
Punches: Word Window (119857, page 209), Modern Label (119849, page 209)
With this technique you definitely want to use Staz-on ink. Staz-on is a permanent ink and won't run while coloring with the Aqua Painter. Classic ink will run (again I speak from experience!!)
First I stamped the images with Black Staz-on on watercolor paper. Then I used my real red Stampin' Write Marker and draw a "bead" or line at the bottom of the image. I then {SAVE} used the Aqua Painter to draw the ink up into the image and got the "watercoloring" look. It's best to use "line images" that you can color in. Do one section at a time, so your ink doesn't get too dry. Works like a charm!!
Here are a couple other cards I made while playing with this technique
Stamp Set: Elements of Style (WM 118611, CM 120045, page 134), Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370, page 157)
Card Stock: Rich Razzleberry, Basic Black, Watercolor Paper (122959, page 181)
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Baja Breeze, Always Artichoke, So Saffron, Jet Black Staz-on (101406, page 203) Aqua Painter (103954, page 203)
Embellishment: 1/4" Basic Black Grosgrain Ribbon (109027, page 195)
And another one......
Stamp Sets: Awash with Flowers (WM 117062, CM 120549, page 110), Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370, page 157)
Card Stock: Early Espresso, Pretty in Pink, Watercolor Paper (122959, page 181)
Ink: Early Espresso, Jet Black Staz-on (101406, page 203) Aqua Painter (103954, page 203), Pretty in Pink Stampin' Write Marker
Punches: Word Window (119857, page 209), Modern Label (119849, page 209), Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border (119275, page 211)
Big Shot: Textured Impressions Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder (117335, page 219)
And the last one......
Stamp Sets: Fifth Avenua Floral (113734, page 110), Teeny Tiny Wishes (115370, page 157)
Card Stock: Basic Gray, Whisper White, Real Red,
Watercolor Paper (122959, page 181)
Ink: Jet Black Staz-on (101406, page 203) Aqua Painter (103954, page 203), Pretty in Pink and Real REd Stampin' Write Markers
Embellishments: Brights Real Red Brads (119740, page 199), 5/8" Real Red Satin Ribbon (117286, page 195)
I like how this turned out with the outlined flowers stamped in the background with black Staz-on and then the flower watercolored and cut out and popped up on top with dimensionals
Hope you will try this technique and would love to have your share what you come up with!
