Looking for a quick, last-minute gift? Here's one that is easy and very useful!! Coaster tiles. I bought ceramic tiles from the local building supply store for 16c each!! Nice. I followed Melissa Stout's directions on how to make these.
For these tiles I used some retired designer series paper - you can use any designer paper - I wanted to use something my friend would enjoy and appreciate!
Supplies you will need:
Ceramic tiles
Modge Podge
Acrylic Sealer (I used Krylon)
Designer Series Paper of choice cut into 4" squares
3/16" Corner Punch (119871, page 212)
Cork Sheets (119819, page 216)
Brayer (102395, page 203)
Foam Brush
Hot Glue Gun
Ribbon (for typing up your coasters for gift giving). I used 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon in Soft Suede (125060, page 195)
Steps to make:
1. Cut 4 1/4" square Cork Sheets and adhere to back of tiles with hot glue gun
2. Corner round the designer series paper
3. With foam brush, apply modge podge to back of designer series paper and adhere to coaster using brayer to take out any bubbles
4. Let dry and add another layer of modge podge over top (I did two layers of modge podge - drying between layers)
5. Spray with acrylic sealer (I did two layers)
6. Let dry completely
7. Tie ribbon around the set and they are ready for gifting!
Can be wiped cleaned with a damp cloth. Shouldn't be put in the dishwasher
