Reflections Technique Lovely as a Tree Tutorial

I saw this beautiful technique called the "Reflections Technique" on Dawn Olchefske's blog and I just fell it LOVE with it.

Lovely as A Tree stamp set is, I believe, the oldest stamp set in the current catalog.  It's SUCH a versatile set and can be used for any occasion!!

 

Supplies: 

Stamp Set:  Lovely As a Tree (115026, page 114), Perfect Punches (WM 117022, CM 120516, page 140)

Card Stock:  Whisper White, Marina Mist, Early Espresso, Old Olive, Window Sheets (114323, page 216)

Ink:  Early Espresso, Marina Mist, Old Olive

Embellishment:  Silver Brads (104336, page 199)

Punches:  Curly Label (119851, page 209), Ticket Corner (119867, page 212)

Big Shot:  Houndstooth Embossing Folder (123134, page 218), Movers & Shapers Curly Label Punch Frame (114506, page 221)

 

Step 1.  Cut Whisper White Card Stock 3 ½” Square.  Use Ticket Corner punch on all 4 corners.  Stamp trees at top of 3 ½” square in Early Espresso.

 

Step 2:  Cut Window Sheet 3” x 5”.  Stamp trees on Window Sheet. 

 
 

Step 3:  Turn window sheet over and line up below previous stamp on whisper white.  Rub ink off window sheet onto card stock. (TIP:  Hold window sheet tightly while rubbing ink,  or it can slip)

 
 

Finished

 

Step 4:  Using a sponge dauber add Old Olive ink to the landscape area.  I started by inking up my sponge dauber – then “stamping” off, so it wasn’t too intense – you can always add more, but can’t take it away!!

 

Step 5: Next add Marina Mist to the “reflection” and a bit light touch to the top

 

 

Step 6.  Add piece of Early Espresso to the back of the focal piece (cut 3 ¾” square) also using the ticket corner punch.

 

Step 7:  Run piece of Marina Mist Card Stock cut 2” x 5 ½” through Houndstooth embossing folder.  Apply Old Olive strip cut ½” x 5 ½ to Marina Mist and then adhere to front of Whisper White card stock base. 

Step 8: Apply focal piece to front of card. 

Step 9: Stamp “My Friend” from Perfect Punches Stamp Set in Early Espresso on Whisper White and cut with Curly Label Punch.  Back with Movers and Shapers Curly Label frame.  Adhere to front of card with dimensionals. 

Step 10:  Add two silver brads.

Wedding Card and the NEW Oval Designer Frame Embossing Folder

The new Designer Frames Textured Impressions Embossing folders are SO cool - I just love how they add such a dimension to your creations!  They come as a package of two with a rectangle and an oval.

 

 
On this one I cut out the oval and added it to the fron of my card

 
Stamp Set:  Oval All (113790, page 131)

Card Stock:  Very Vanilla

Ink: Elegant EggplantEmbellishments:  Basic Pearls (119247, page 198), Elegant Eggplant 1/2" Scallop Dots Ribbon (124143, page 195)

Big Shot: Textured Impression Embossing Folder Framed Tulips (121809, page 218), Textured Impressions Embossing Folders Designer Frames (123130, page 218), Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Elegant Lines (119277, page 219)

I ran the card base through the Big Shot using the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder - then cut a piece of card stock 4 1/4" x 3 1/8"  to fit inside the frame and ran that through the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder.  I added the pearls and then ran a piece of Very Vanilla Through the Oval Designer Frames Embossing Folder, cut it out, stamped "Best Wishes" and then attached it to the front with dimensionals.  I then tied a piece of 1/2" dotto scallop ribbon plain side instead of the dots showing and attached it to the front with mini glue dots.  Truly simple, but elegant card!!

Sneak Peak Stampin' Up Holiday Stocking Bigz L Die

Another Sneak Peak from the Holiday Stocking Bigz L Die that is in the Stampin' Up Holiday Mini 2011 Catalog which will soon be live - September 1 - and I can't wait!!

This project is an actual "card" and not just a stocking.

 

 
Supplies:

Card Stock:  Frostwood Lodge Designer Series Paper (page 28), Cherry Cobbler and Whisper White

Embellishments:  Stitched Felt (page 30), 3/8" Early Espresso Quilted Sati Ribbon (page 30)

Big Shot: Holiday Stocking Bigz L Die (page 24)

Instructions:

To make a card, you need to cut a piece of designer series paper 12" x 6" and scored at 6".  Fold and lay your piece on the stocking die about 3/8" below the top cut

 
I added a piece of white card stock, so you can see the die.  That's about how far to line it up below the top of the die

Run through the Big shot

 

And you have a card - I cut another stocking in Whisper White and added it to the inside for my sentiment.

Sneak Peak Holiday Stocking Big Shot Bigz L Die

This Holiday Mini is chock full of wonderful new projects and ideas and one of those if the Holiday Stocking Big Shot Bigz L Die (on page 24)

I haven't had much time lately, but just HAD to try myhand at making a few of these stockings. 

First of I just LOVE the Red Glimmer paper that came out last Holiday Mini and was carried over to the 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog.  And now they have SILVER Glimmer Paper in the new Holiday Mini (page 41). It's STUNNING!

I made two stockings by interchanging the two glimmer papers - these are SO easy to make.  Trust me on this!!

 
I also used some of the Holly Berry Bouquet Desinger Buttons (page 22)  and the Winter Wishes Stitched Felt (page 30).  The ribbon on the left stocking is 1/2" Seam Binding in Pear Pizzaz (122330, page 195)

I made two of these and added a little box in the center for some goodies.

I cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler Card Stock 5 1/2" x 4 1/2".  I then scored at 1 1/2" on all 4 side.  I made one cut at each corner (same one on each 4 sides) and then made up the box and adhered it between the two stockings with Sticky Tape.

Altered Stampin' Up Clear-Mount Stamp Cases

I just love to figure out how to use products "outside" the box.  The Stampin' Up Clear-Mount Stamp Cases are intended for those who want to dismount their wood-mounted stamps and put them in DVD-sized storage cases. This is a great thing to save room.  You can find the cases on page 205 of the 2011-2012 Idea Book and Catalog.  They come in a set of 4 for $5.95 (plus shipping).

Altered Composition Books with Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper

The Beau Chateau Designer Series Paper is a favorite of mine right now - and I needed some little gifts for my granddaughter and her Australian friend whose family is visiting. So I altered some composition books.  I asked on the SUDSOL list (Stamping Up Demonstrators Sharing On Line - see link in right side bar if you would like to know more about this great sharing list), about the best way to adhere the DSP to the composition book.  Most advice was to use Stampin' Up Anywhere Glue Stick (104045, page 206).  I then was adviced to use my brayer ((101610, page 203) and run it over the glued on DSP.  Worke3d like a charm!!  And, BTW, composition books are on sale everywhere - good time to stock up!

Here's the one I made for my granddaughter

 

I used a piece of DSP 9 11/16" x 7" for the front.  The back U added two inches,m so 9 11/16" x 9".  This wraps around the front to cover up the black binding. 

I added a strip of Marina Mist cut with the Lace Ribbon Border Punch (122362, page 211) and cut out a large scallop circle in Marina Mist with the Scallop Circle Bigz Die (113468, page 222) and a smaller from with the Scallop Circle #2 Bigz Die (113469, page 222).  And I added Emily's initial "E" cut with the Serif Essentials Alphabet (113464, page 223) in Marina Mist.

The second book I altered is this one

 

I used the nice frame piece of the Beau Chateau DSP and just added the "S" in the center cut in Pink Pirouette.  Also the Lace Ribbon Border adds the finishing touch.

Last Swap from Convention

Another "perk" of being a Stampin' Up Demonstrator is belonging to demo-only websites.  One excellent "community" is called SUDSOL (Stampin' Up Demonstrators Sharing On Line).  This is around 1200 demonstrators sharing their ideas, thoughts, plans, etc. etc..  Have a question?  Just ask on SUDSOL and you will have the answer almost before you can check back.

And.....this wonderful group of demonstrators share at convention too.  WE had a card front swap - I ended up making 50+ swaps just for this group alone.  One of the long-time members coordinated the swap and did a great job - and it wasn't an easy one.  To get that many people together to swap was a test of her patience, but she did fantastic.  Thanks Blythe
