Happy 4th of July

For one of my demonstrations at June's club meeting, I showed the gals how to make these darling plasticware and napkin holders!  Martha Stewart (SU Demonstrator) made these - she was inspired by Kathie McGuire.

I'm all ready for our 4th of July picnic

 

Here's a quick tutorial for you - these take about 30 minutes to make, so you still have time before Monday :)

Supplies:

Card Stock:  Real Red, Night of Navy, Whisper White

Whisper White 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon

Sticky Tape

Step 1.  Cut the following for the blue boxes

Real Red 2 - 3 1/2" squares scored 1/2" on all 4 sides

Night of Navy 2 - 4 1/4" x 11".  Score both pieces at 2 1/2", 5", 7 1/2" and 10"

Whisper White 2 - 1" x 11" (for straps) 2 - 3/4" x 11" (for trim)  Scallop Border Punch

2 pieces Whisper White 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon (10")

 
Step 2:  Cut 4 slits on same sides on 3 1/2" real red pieces.  Assemble into box for bottoms

 
 
Step 3:  Use the Scallop Border punch on the 3/4" x 11" Whisper White card stock.  Attach this to the top of the 4 1/4" x 11" Night of Navy card stock

 
Step 5:  Assemble box by adding sticky tape to tab (1").

 
Step 6:  Add sticky tape to bottom of box

 
Step 7: Next gently scrunch the 4 sides of the box and put it inside the red bottom - if you scrunch the 4 sides, it will go into the box without sticking to the sides and you can push out the sides and attach them evenly

 
Step 8:  Add sticky tape around the top of the red bottom and apply 1/4" Whisper White Grosgrain ribbbon around

 
Step 9:  Assemble second box - then add sticky strip to one side of either box and adhere the two boxes together.

 
 
Step 10:  Attach decorations to the two "handles" - then put sticky tape on the ends and adhere one side to one box and the other side to the opposite back.  Do same with both handles

 
 
Step 11:  I added red, white and blue 5/8" grosgrain ribbon to front and back along with a Sahara Sand star.

Repeat these steps for the red boxes

And here they are again all finished and ready for the picnic!!

Cruise Class Project #10 - Instructions

And last, but definitely not least, is the project Shelly showed us on the cruise.  Love it because 3 x 3 card are SO fun

 
This would make a darling little gift - maybe a hostess gift. 

I'll start with the card holder

Supplies: Pocket Full of Posies Designer Series Paper (122354, page 184),

Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine (123125, page 10 Summer Mini)

My Friend Stamp Set (W 122585, C 122587, page 139)

Postage Stamp Punch (122344, page 10 Summer Mini)

Step 1.  Cut piece of designer series paper in the red 4" x 8".  Score at 1" and 4".  Fold up to 1" score line and adhere with sticky tape.

Step 2.  Measure in on "tab" 1/2" and clip with to score ine with Postage Stamp Punch on each end.  Then snip across top

Step 3.  Punch two holes with 1/16" hand punch (101227, page 212).  Add Cherry Cobbler (about 12" piece) and tie in front.

Step 4.  Cut 12" piece of blue/white dotted DSP and fold around bottom and adhere with snail.  Add brad and cut out ends for "ribbon look".

Step 5.  Stamp "My friend" and add to front

Supplies for Card #1 (Rich Razzleberry Card)

Rich Razzleberry Card Stock 3" x 6"; Old Olive cut 2 1/2" square and run through Perfect Polka Dot Embossing Folder

Pretty Postage Stamp Set (W123095 C 123097, page 11 Summer Mini)

Rich Razzleberry 1 1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon

Step 1.  Adhere Rich Razzleberry Ribbon around front of card stock base

Step 2.  Stamp "Sweet" stamp in Rich Razzleberry ink and punch out with Postage Stamp Punch.  Adhere to 2 1/2" square old olive

Step 3.  Adhere to front of card stock over ribbon

Done!

Card #2

Supplies:  More Mustard Card Stock for card base cut 3" x 6".  Pear PIzzaz and Daffodil Delight Card Stock

Postage Stamp Punch (122344, page 10 Summer Mini)

Pretty Postage (W 123095, C 123097, page 11 Summer Mini) & Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set (115370, page 157)

Step 1.  Stamp Birthday Cake stamp from Pretty Postage on square of Whisper White Card Stock.  Also stamp Happy Birthday from Teeny Tiny Wishes on Whisper White and punch out with Word Window Punch (119857, p0age 209).  Adhere birthday on center of More Mustard card stock base

Step 2.  Using Postage Stamp punch, punch out two square in Pear Pizzaz and two squares in Daffodil Delight.  Fold corners down on all 4 punch outs

Step 3.  Adhere these framing the birthday cake stamp. 

Step 4.  Add Happy Birthday greeting at bottom with dimensionals

Step 5.  Stamp on envelopes

Done!!

Cruise Class Project #9 - Instructions

This next project was a little more complicated, but actually very fun to make

 
I had to study it carefully and close up to figure out how they made the "pop up" flower, but it's SO simple!!

Supplies:  Whisper White Card Stock base; Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler and River Rock

Stamp Set:  Flower Fest (W 122278, C 122280, page 20 Summer Mini)

2 3/8" Scallop Circle Punch (118874, page 210); Butterfly Punch (119848, page 210), Scallop Trim Border Punch (118402, page 211)

Square Lattice Textured Impression Embossing Folder (119976, page 218); Top Note Die (113463, page 222)

Step 1.  Cut Top Note die and stamp with Old Olive the stem with leaves

Step 2.  Punch Cherry Cobbler 1" x 5 1/4" piece with Scallop Trim Border

Step 3.  Adhere Night of Navy plain piece to top of card base - add Top Note Die.

Step 4.  Adhere Cherry Cobbler punch border on Night of Navy that has been run through Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  Adhere this piece on top of Top note

Step 5.  Stamp five large flowers with Black Staz-on ink (101406, page 203).  Punch out all five with 2 3/8" scallop circle punch.  Fold 4 of the flowers in 1/2 and then in 1/4.  Adhere these 4 on remaining punched out flower with sticky tape.  They will lay down flat to put into envelope, but will pop up when taken out!!  Adhere to front of card

Step 6.  Stamp three butterflies on River Rock card stock with river rock ink.  Punch out and mount together with either sticky strip or snail.  Add three small pearls to center and adhere to front of card.

Step 7.  Add three more pearls to left front

Card Done - not so hard - just a little more work than the rest :)

Cruise Class Project #8 - Instructions

This card was a hit with everyone.  It's SO bright and cheery

 
Supplies Used:   Daffodil Delight Card Stock for Card Base.  Tangerine Tango, Whisper White and Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper (122342, page 23 Summer Mini)

Daffodil Delight 5/8" Satin Ribbon

Sincere Salutations Stamp Set (115068, page 160)

Textured Impression Flower Garden Embossing Folder (123113, page 24 Summer Mini)

Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch (119275, page 211)

Step 1.  Run Flower Garden Embossing Folder through Big shot on the 4 1/4" x 4" piece of Tangerine Tango Card Stock.  TIP:  Make sure card stock is on the 4 1/4" side the run it through on the right side of the card stock. 

Step 2.  Punch a piece of 4 1/4" whisper white card stock with Dotted Scallop Ribbon Punch

Step 3.  Adhere whisper white "ribbon" on back of Tangerine Tango card stock and the Beyond the Garden DSP to front of piece.

Step 4.  Tie Daffodil Delight satin ribbon around tangerine tango piece and adhere this to card front

Step 5.  Stamp sentiment on whisper white card stock and punch with Large Oval Punch (119855, page 212)

Step 6.  Punch out Scallop Oval with Daffodil Delight Card Stock (119856, page 210).  Adhere sentiment to front of card with dimensionals

Again - a quick easy card, but SO striking with the bright colors

Cruise Class Project #7 - Instructions

This next project was fun - I made it for Father's Day, but the stamp set (Best Dad Ever) also has Happy Birthday!  Excellent "manly" card. 

 

Love the way the "red" tie stands out.  It's actually mounted on the inside of the card

 
Supplies used:  Crumb Cake card stock ( I cut it 4 1/2" x 11" and then cut off 1 1/2" from the front). Cherry Cobbler and Early Espresso

Stamp Set:  Best Dad Ever (W 120399, C 120681, page 13 Summer Mini)

Step 1: Stamp Ties on 4" x 2 1/2" piece of Whisper White Card Stock

Step 2.  Stamp one tie on Cherry Cobbler and cut out with snips.  Add Basic Rhinestone (119246, page 198) to front of Cherry Cobbler Tie

Step 3.  Layer Whisper White with ties, Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler and tie a piece of Earl Espresso Baker's Twine (123124, page 10 Summer mini) around all three pieces.  Adhere to front of card.

Step 4.  Stamp greeting on 5 1/2" x 2 1/2 Whisper White and adhere Cherry Cobbler Tie so that it will show on front. 

Step 5.  Layer Whisper White, Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler and add to inside of card

Done!  Another simple card, but really great for the man in your life

Cruise Class Project #6 - Instructions

This next project was an experiment - I wasn't sure how the new Flower Garden Embossing Folder would work on Vellum - but it worked out fine!! 

 
Supplies used:  Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Basic Gray and Card Stock Vellum (101856, page 181)

Textured Impressions Flower Garden Embossing Folder (123113, page 24 Summer Mini)

Doily Triple Layer PUnch (122465, page 6 Summer Mini)

Sentiment from Just Believe (W 116948 C 120453, page 109)

Step 1.  Emboss with Flower Garden Embossing Folder on the vellum. 

Step 2.  Tear each piece of the vellum, crumb cake and basic gray card stock.  Adhere to fron of card base. 

Step 3.  Stamp "Friends" in Basic Gray

Step 4.  Cut out basic gray with Triple Layer Doily PUnch

Step 5.  Adhere to front of card with dimensionals

Cruise Class Project #5 - Instructions

Everyone loved this project - really easy and SO striking.  Again one I saw on the cruise.

 
Supplies Used:  Fabulous Florets Stamp Set (W 123024, C 123027, page 22 Summer Mini)

Beyond the Garden Designer Series Paper (122342, page 23 Summer Mini)

I added some Pacific Point, Whisper White and Old Olive as accents

You are probably wondering about the "frame" for the stamp image.  This is made using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch (119275, page 211). You start with a piece of card stock that is 3" square.  Line up one side in the punch so it's even on both sides.  Punch.  Turn to the next side and do the same thing - to all 4 sides.  You end up with a nice "frame" and a piece in the center where you can stamp.

Line up and punch one side

 

 

Then punch the next three sides and you have a beautiful frame

 
 
 

 To assemble card

Step 1.  Attached old olive and designer series paper to card base

Step 2.  Stamp "vine" from Fabulous Florets set on the 1 7/8" square piece of Whisper White Card Stock

Step 3.  Adhere stamped image in the center of the Pacific Point frame

Step 4.  Add Basic Pearls (119247, page 198) and adhere to card front

Done!!   This card would make a beautiful birthday, friend, sympathy card!

Cruise Class Project #4 - Instructions

Project #4 for the Cruise Class was one similar to the make 'n take we did on the cruise.  Unfortunately, not all of the products were available for me to preorder, so I compromised with this card.   I used the new Wisteria Wonder Card Stock and combined it with Baja Breeze.  And....the newest punch The Lace Ribbon Border Punch (122362, page 211).  Oh, I'm SO in love with this punch. 

 
This card looks small, but it's called a "squash" card - or at least that is what I called it.  It opens up and you have lots of room to write, add pictures, or whatever else you want to add to your card.

 
Supplies:  Wisteria Wonder Card Stock (122922, page 176), Baja Breeze and Whisper White Card Stock

I used the Happy Greetings Stamp set (W 123311 C 123313, page 26 Summer Mini)

Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder was used for the Baja Breeze on the front (117355, page 219)

Step 1.  Fold 8" x 8" piece of Wisteria Wonder card stock.  I have scored this at the center, turned and scored again at the center and then turned and scored down one center kitty corner.  Fold centers and then fold the fold the kitty corner oppposite.  This should then easily fold together to make the card

Step 2.  Stamp on the inside of the card with the Delicate Doilies Stamp Set (W 122590 C 122592, page 127)

Step 3.  Attach baja breeze and whisper white squares on opposite corners of the inside of the card

Step 4.  Using the Lace Ribbon Border, punch a piece that is 3 3/4" wide. 

Step 5.  Attached Baja Breeze piece of card stock that has been run through the embossing folder to front of card.  Attach lace border. 

Step 6.  Stamp sentiment and cut with Extra-Large Oval Punch (119859, page 212)

Step 7.  Using the Big Shot and the Lots of Tags Sizzlit set (114508, page 224), cut out the oval frame in Wisteria Wonder.  Attach sentiment and then adhere to front of card with Dimensionals

A really fun fold card - can even be given as a small album with pictures!!

Cruise Class Project #3 - Instructions

I saw this darling little box on the cruise.  It would be fun to fill with whatever the occasion merits.  Say Chocolates?  Yummmm

 
Supplies:  Box made from Daffodil Delight Textured Card Stock (121077, page 177)

Big Shot Die Box #2 (114518, page 221)

1 1/4"  Striped Grosgrain Ribbon (115615 page 195)

Step 1.  Assemble box (i used one piece of sticky tape on the tab) 

Step 2.  tie ribbon around box

Step 3.  Using Stampin Write Markers (119806, page 202), color with Daffodil Delight and Old Olive and stamp on white card stock.  Attach to basic black card stock and then attach over ribbon with dimensionals.

Project done!! Here's a picture from the top
