Swaps from Convention

One of the fun things we do at the Stampin' Up Convention is swapping.   You say "what???"  Yep swapping.  We make up card fronts (usually just the fronts) and trade or "swap" them - we come home with tons of new ideas.  I wanted to share a few.  I won't give all the "ingredients" but will just share some here.  I'm away, so don't have the names of the original creator, but will add them later.

So here goes - check back tomorrow and I'll have more - in fact over the next few days you will see a bunch of swaps!!  Just think of the all ideas I have to make now :)  Love it!

More Sympathy Cards

Here are a couple more Sympathy Cards.  This first card is a fun technique - I call it "double embossing" because I use TWO embossing folders at the same time.  Saves time, eh?

 

Stamp Set:  Thanks for Caring (now retired)

Card Stock:  Whisper White, Basic Black

Ink:  Basic Black

Punches:  2 3/8" Scallop Circle (118874, page 210), 2 1/2" Circle (120906, page 212)

Embellishments:  Basic Black 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon (now retired).  Basic Pearls (119247, page 198)

Big Shot:  Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (119277, page 219), Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (117335, page 219)

You can line up your card stock in both embossing folders - and run them through the Big Shot.  Here's a picture of how to line them up. 

 
TIP:  Make sure that both embossing folders are "name side up".  The folders have "Sizzix" on them - these both need to be up - or at least both the same way - trust me on this - otherwise your embossing will not match (yes I did this in my Big Shot class - good lesson, eh?)

Next step is to run your embossing folders through the Big Shot - here's the sandwich

There will be a "line" between the embossings, but this is perfect for ribbon, lace ribbon border punch - stamping a sentiment, or whatever else your imagination comes up with :)

Stamp Set:  Thanks for Caring (now retired), Build a Blossom (W 121923, C 121994 Page 112)

Card Stock:  Whisper White, Wisteria Wonder

Ink:  Concord Crush, Old Olive

Punches:  Blossom Petals Builder (121808, page 213), 1" Circle (119868, page 212)

For this card I used Concord Crush ink and inked up the petals from the Build a Blossom stamp set.  I punched them out and then "rounded" the petals to give them depth with a stylus.  I mounted them with dimensionals - stamped the circle part of the flower again in Concord Crush and punched it out with the 1" punch.  I also mounted the center with dimensionals.  Then stamped leaves and mounted them under the petals.

I've been needing some Sympathy cards - wanted to share the ones I made this week

I can hardly make a card these days without using one of the embossing folders.  Just LOVED them.  Do you know the "sandwich" for the Textured Impressions Embossing Folders?

I received a swap card at convention which had this layout.  SO easy, yet SO awesome

Punch: Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer (122464, page 211)

Big Shot :  Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (119976, page 218)

I punched the blossom bouquet flowers and attached them to the Whisper White card stock  with Stampin' Up Anywhere Glue Stick (104045, page 206).  I also stamped the sentiment and then ran that through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  I find the glue stick is the best adhesive for this type of "embossing" - it covers the entire area and sticks down better.

Quite a simple process, but very effective

In Memory of Holly

MY dear friend, and downline, Holly Davis, passed away on Friday, July 22nd.  She had such a zest for life and loved being a demonstrator.  I wanted to share some of her cards - she had some darling cards ready for a class we were doing together on Saturday!!

 
So meaningful!!  That is what she was a loving person who knew everyone and always had a smile!

My Digital Studio Cruise Album

Here are more pages from my Cruise Album made with My Digital Studio.  I'm planning a class using this program - we will make a simple album in the class - if you are interested, please let me know and I will plan it so we can all get together and learn how to use it!!  I will be doing one in Portland and, if there is enough interest, one in Prineville.

Our servers in the Trellis Restaurant - they were absolutely fantastic - brought us extra food, laid our napkins on our laps - wow - it was SO fun!!

 

Our final stop before heading back to Seattle, was Victoria, BC.  My son-in-law's parents live there and they planned to meet the ship and take us around victoria.  NICE!!

 

Lo and behold the first person we see as we disembark is our daughter, Heidi.  What a wonderful surprise.  We had talked about them coming up, but they were caring for twin foster babies, so couldn't leave the country......but the twins went "home", so they were able to come north.  What fun!!  Emily, Spencer and Donny loved watching our "ship come in!!"

Stampin' UP Convention 2011

 

We had a wonderful time at the Stampin' Up Convention 2011 in Salt Lake City this last week.  We left on Wednesday morning (EARLY!!).  Came home after all the events were over on Saturday.  I'm still reeling from all the information!  Whew!  I will be sharing swaps I received and special information over the next couple of weeks.  But I had to share the video that Stampin' Up made of the highlights of the convention.  If this doesn't get you excited about going next year.....well, I don't know what will LOL.

My Digital Studio Cruise Album

Whales - yes we saw whales!!  What fun!!  At one time we were in the dining room and a waiter came running over and pointed - at quite a distance we could see what must have been 20 whales spouting.  No pictures as it was too far away, but we did see some close up!
