Antibacterial Halloween Soap Holder

Do you want your kids to be concious of washing their hands before they eat their Halloween candy?  Here's a darling little antibacterial soap holder that we made at the club meeting.

 
We will be making the center one.  The one on the right is made with basic black card stock and it's run through the Textured Impressions Spider Web Embossing Folder (120889, page 6 Holiday Mini 2010)

Stamp Set:  Halloween Hoot (111582, page 23)

Card Stock:  Pumpkin Pie, Basic Black, Whisper White, Nite Owl Designer Series Paper (123012, page 9 Holiday Mini 2010)

Ink: Basic Black

Embellishments:  1/2" Raven Lace Trim )120988, page 8 Holiday Mini 2010)

Punches:  Scallop Oval (119856, page 200), Large Oval (119855, page 2020), Small Oval (119863, page 202), Bitty Bat (119279, page 200)

Here's a little tutorial to walk you through the steps

Step 1.  Cut two pieces of card stock 10" x 3" and 6" x 1 1/2"

 

Step 2.  Score the 10" x 3" at 1", 2" 5 1/2" and 6 1/2"

Step 3.  Score the small piece along the long side at 1/2", 1 1/2", 4 1/2", and 5 1/2". Turn it and score along the short side at 1/4" and 1 1/4". Using a bone folder, fold over all the lines to make them nice and crisp.

 

Step 4.  Cut off the tabs as shown in the picture

 
 Step 5.  Using your Large Oval punch, cut out an oval in the center of the 6" x 1 1/2" piece - cut the oval and then cut just another smidge to fill the entire center area

 
Step 6.  Apply Sticky Strip to the top, bottom and side tabs of the 6" x 1 1/2" piece (above picture)

Step 7.  Fold the 10" x 3" piece on the score lines

Step 8. Add the 6" x 1 1/2" piece to the bigger piece by folding the tabs and sticking them to the 2nd 1" strip

 

Step 9.  Fold up the bottom inch and stick to the sticky strip

 

Step 10.  Now fold the insert up and apply to the back of the big piece

 
Step 11.  Your little bottle of antibacterial hand soap will now fit tightly into the oval.  The nice thing is that it won't fall out!!

 
 

Step 12.  Apply the designer paper to the outside and inside of your soap holder.  I cut the basic black 3 1/4" x 2 3/4" and the skull designer paper 3" x 2 1/2".  I applied the Raven lace trim on the front before adhering it to the soap holder.  The adhesive does not stick to the lace trim, so I put some adhesive on the back and stretched the ribbon around.  The sentiment and the bat are applied with dimensionals

Step 13.  I applied the dsp to the inside top of the soap holder (cut 3 1/4" x 2 3/4") and the front (cut 2 3/4" x 3/4"

Halloween Silhouette Card

I love the idea of a silhouette - and this card fits the bill perfectly.

I cut out the circle in So Saffron and sponged Pumpkin Pie around the edges. 

I mounted the branch with two-way glue pen ((100425, page 197) an excellent adhesive for those small pieces.

Dresser and Side Step Cards

 
I just love Jackie Topa's ideas and her dresser card is just darling.

She gives you directions for cutting the card and here's a little review

Cut your card stock like you would for a regular card 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"

At the 2 3/4" (or center) of the long side, cut from 1" to 5 1/4".  Score from one outside edge at 1" and 2"

Fold first with a mountain fold and then with a valley fold.  Then burnish the top of the right side.

Add your drawers (2" x 3/4") with dimensionals. 

Cut the bottom left front with about 1/2" of the curly label punch to get the "legs" effect.  The on the right side with the scallop edge punch.

The roses are made with the Beary Lovely Sizzlit (117987, page 217).  I cut two in Old Olive and then two of the rose buds in Real Red and mounted and roses on top of the stems. 

Any sentiment could be added to the front above the scallop edge punch!!

This could be a special card for a "thinking of you" friend.

And then I had to try a Halloween one I saw on Stampin' Connection (please feel free to ask me about Stampin' Connection!!)

 

 
This is a side step card - very different fold, but lots of fun  -  think of all the possibilites to make some really beautiful cards!!

I Stamped and cut out the feet and hat and adhered them on the drawers.  Simple and lots of fun!!

Club Projects and Demos

We had fun club meetings this month.  I was happy to be able to go to Portland and meet with my club there.  Thanks, Lana, for having us!!  Love that table :)

Our theme this month was Halloween - what else?  I demoed these darling candy boxes - copied the idea from Gretchen B.  She is SO creative.

These are wonderful little candy holders and they hold a LOT of candy - plenty enough for one little gobblin for all his/her Halloween needs!

 

Here we have a real line-up  Frankie, Brenda, Gasper, Manfred and Dougie (penned by Gretchen).  Aren't they quite a bunch.

Here's Frankie

 

To make Frankie you will need

Fancy Favor Box cut from Old Olive (12 x 12 iece of Card Stock cut 6 x 12).  Just a tip on cutting the Fancy Favor box and any dies that require scoring.  Use the Crease Pad (Standard 113476 Extended 117630, page 205) for the top of the sandwich.  This will put in score lines.  With my Big Shot, I have to add a shim (I use a piece of 6 x 12 card stock) so that my cutting lines will be cut.  Every Big Shot is calibrated differently, so you need to experiment with yours.

Cut two Top Note Dies in Old Olive.  Also cut a Top Note die in Concord Crush.

For the nose you will need to cut out one Round Tab Punch (119864, page 202) in Old Olive. You will also need 3/4" circle in Whisper White for the Eyes; 1/2" circle in Black for the irises and one more 3/4" circle in Old Olive for the eyebrows.

I sponged around the top note dies and the nose and eyebrows with old olive. 

Attach the nose with dimensionals.  Attach the black irises to the eyes and add the eyebrows with dimensionals. 

Cut "bangs" for the hair with your paper snips.  Attach hair to top over eyes.

With a black Stampin' Write Marker add the mouth and black scars on the sides of the face.  

Attached both top die notes on the fancy favor box with Sticky Tape (104294, page 197)

And you have Frankie

Brenda is made the same except I made her smiling and with pink hair

 

Manfred the Mummy

 
And here's Manfred the Mummy. 

Very Vanilla Card Stock

You will need one 6 x 12 piece fo the Fancy Favor Box (see instructions for Frankie).  I cut three top note dies in Very Vanilla - cut apart one and sponged So Saffron on it to sharpen the details between the pieces.  I then applied with over the second top note - I left some room for the eyes which are punched with black with the 1" circle punch; whisper white 3/4" circle punch and the irises 1/4' circle punch. I drew in the veins in the eyes with the Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.

Gasper the Ghost

 

Gasper is a friendly ghost - he scares easily, so really needs candy to keep him down.  He is made with Whisper White card stock same as the others.  I sponged Concord Crush around the edges.  The eyes are made from the Large Oval Punch (119855, page 202).  I punch three black and one white.  I cut the white one in half and added it to the black for the eyes along with 1/2" black circles for the irises.  The other black oval is for the mouth.  I then punched a 1 3/8" x 5/8" Large Oval (119863, page 202) for the nose and sponged around with lightly with concord crush ink.

Dougie the Vampire

 
Dougie is made with Bashful Blue Card Stock and sponged with concord crush.  To make the "hair", I cut the top note die in Basic Black - then cut again about 1 1/4" so I had the top "v's.  The black behind the eyes is a 1 1/4" square punch cut in half.  The mouth is a Word Window Punch and the teeth are a 3/4" square cut in half

Aren't these just the ticket for little prizes for the kids?

More Owl Punch Possibilities

I hope you aren't tired of the Owl Punch.  It's SO versatile - just love it. Click here and here to see some cards I have made with the Owl Punch.  And also here for another "out of the box" idea

Here is a card made with the Owl Punch - and made into Penguins.  Again I found this idea online and just fell in love with it!!

I cut the Owl out in Basic Black Card Stock - then cut off the "ears".  That made the little Penguins.  I cut off his/her black feet and again cut out another two owls in Blushing Bride.  I cut off the top of the owl and attached the bottom half to the back for the "Naturally colored" feet.  The beaks are the hearts cut in Blushing Bride Card Stock and attached under the eyes.

More Elegant Vintage

Here's another card I cased (can't remember where) but loved it SO much

I cut my card base in Crumb Cake.  I then stamped the En Francaise Background Stamp in Crumb Cake over the front of the card.  The next step is to run the Night of Navy piece (4 1/4" x 2 1/2") through the Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder.  tie the Victoria Crochet Trim Around the Night of Navy piece and add the ribbon and the line of pearls (these are all in a row in the side of the pearls sheet).  Next stamp your sentiment over the Charming piece (stamped in Crumb Cake on Very Vanilla and cut with the Wide Oval Punch).  Mount sentiment on the Lots of Tags cut with Night of Navy (just LOVE this frame).  Next cut and mount your little leaves (Very Vanilla). 

For the flower, I cut 10 scallop circles in Marina Mist.  I folded each scallop in 8th's and then unfolded them and crumbled them up a big.  I put them all together and used the paper piercing tool to pierce a hole and added the Ice Rhinestone Brad in the center.  I then gently folded them up around the brad.   I mounted the flower with Stampin' Dimensionals over the crochet trim and the Little Leaves.

I'm just loving the Elegant Soiree and the Vintage look that this paper encourages!!

The Beautiful Butterfly is cut with the Embosslit and then I sponged Platinum Shimmer Paint over it!!  Pictures don't do it justice

I ran the front of the card through the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder.  The Elegant Soiree striped paper is cut 4 1/4" x 2".

The new Basic Rhinestones have adhesives, so they mount very easily and they actually STAY ON!!!!

I saw these flowers on the internet and just had to try them.  They are large, but SO beautiful.

Tutorial for Embossed Flower Folds Flowers

Step 1

Cut a piece of 12 x  12 card stock in half.  You now have two pieces and you will need to cut two of each size of the flowers on the flower folds Bigz XL die.  Cut off 3 3/8" from the end of each piece.  Put the card stock on your flowers folds die as in the picture below, covering the small flowers with the 3 3/8" x 6" pieces of paper.  You can cut more than one set at a time

You now have 8 flowers cut

For this card I'm only going to use the three smaller sizes.  For the first two cards, I used all 4 sizes.

Step 2

Using a Stampin' Sponge (101610, page 195) or a Sponge Dauber (102892, page 195), sponge the edges of all the petals on all flowers

Step 3

Run each petal through the Big Shot in the Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

And you will now have all your flowers embossed

Step 4

Using a Stylus (100663, page 196), gently curl each petal up.  I mention "gently" because sometimes these petals are a bit delicate after being run through the embossing folder.

Step 5

Line up all your flowers and using your Paper Piercer (pokey tool 116631, page 198) and Mat Pack (105826, page 198) poke a hole in the center of all your flowers

Step 6

Using the small (1 1/4") Paper Daisies, sponge around the edges with a coordinating color (I used Crumb Cake).  Add a vintage brad and adhere the daisy and brad to the flower

Step 7

Mount your flower on your card with Stampin' Dimensionals (104430, page 197)

 I used Crumb Cake for the Card Base cut 10" x 5" and scored at 5" for a 5" x 5" card.  The 2nd layer is Very Vanilla cut 4 3/4" x 4 3/4".  The third layer is Crumb Cake cut 4 5/8" x 4 5/8" and run through the Big Shot with the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder.  I cut a 13" piece of Victoria Crochet Ribbon and tied it around layers 2 and 3.
