Our club demonstrators for August included a slider card (pull-tab card) and a glass butterfly.
Here's the Glass Butterfly card (thanks go to Dayanna Dong for her inspiration)
Stamp Set: Occasional Quotes (WM 117048, CM 120142, Level 3 Hostess Set, page 14)
Card Stock: Melon Mambo, Basic Black, Whisper White, Presto Patterns Specialty Designer Paper (11175, page 172)
Ink: Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight, Versamark (102283, page 195)
Embellishments: Basic Pearls (119247, page 188)
Tools: Clear Embossing Powder (109130, page 196), Heat Tool (100005, page 196), Powder Pal (102197, page 196), Stamping Sponges (101610, page 195)
Big Shot: Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die (114507, page 206)
Step 1
Sponge ink over the Presto patterns paper (approx 5” x 4”)
Run through the Big Shot using the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz Die
You now have your colored butterfly
Step 2
Completely cover your butterfly with Versamark
Pour clear embossing powder over the butterfly and heat set with your heat tool. You will do this three more times – completely cover the butterfly with versamark each time and heat set. By the 4th time, you have a fairly thick clear “glass butterfly” (my pictures definitely do not do this justice!!)
Step 3
Cut your card base in Melon Mambo 11” x 4 ¼” and score at 5 ½”
Cut Basic Black at 5 ¼” x 4” and mount on Melon Mambo card base
Cut Whisper White at 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”
Score Whisper White on three sides ½” from edge and 1/8” twice more
Score bottom at 1” and again 1/8” twice more (I turned the scored side over so it was debossed)
Mount on Basic Black
Mount glass butterfly on Whisper White with Dimensionals
Add two large basic pearls to butterfly
I added the sentiments with the Stamp-a-ma-jig (101049, page 198)
