Tri-Shutter Card

The other card we made for the club meeting was the Tri-Shutter Card.  I saw this tutorial on SCS and just had to try it - it was quite a job cutting out all the pieces for 16 cards before hand, but, what fun we had putting them together.  Here's the tutorial and be sure and watch the video tutorial at the bottom as it's very helpful!!

I used the Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Elegant Bouquet and then sanded the embossed area.  On the white and green print I embossed with the Stampin' Up Textured Impression Embossing Folder Finial Press and then sponged over it lightly with Old Olive Ink.

Simple Pop-Up Card

I have always wanted to do a Pop-Up card, but they intimidated me.  But I found this beautiful one on SCS and followed the link to Ruth's blog and it was definitely simple - even I could do it. So this was one of the Make-'n-Takes at our club meeting.

The Greenhouse Garden stamp set is a two-step stamping set.  This means that you can stamp with two stamps and get a wonderful effect.  When you use the two-step stamping, you need to start with the darker color and then use the lighter color.  I stamped the inside of the petunia with Lovely Lilac and then the main flower with Lavender Lace.  Beautiful effect. 

Together Forever and Pop-Up Cake Die

For a whole year I've been wanting to use this Together Forever set and when the Pop-Up Cake Die came out I knew it was a "match"!!

We were at a wedding last weekend and a friend mentioned the sentiment - so I ran with it!!

Fan Fold Flower

My next demo at the club meeting was the Fan Fold Flowers.  These add SO much to your creations and are simple, fast and elegant looking.  There is a wonderful tutorial on SCS here.  And be sure and watch Beate John's video tutorial at the bottom of the page.  She does an excellent job!

Pencil Holders

At our club meeting this week one of my demos was these cute pencil holders.  I found these on The Stamp Doc's site and just had to make them.  They are SO easy and quick and perfect for our little ones returning to school soon!

I've done just a quick tutorial with the measurements for you

Start with a piece of card stock 2 1/4" x 12" (you can make it bigger for more pencils by cutting  your card stock 2 1/2" x 12")

 

Score 1/2" on each long side

 

and at 1/2", 8" and 8 1/2" on the 2 1/4" side as below

 

Cut along the long sides at each score line - see below (six cuts)

 

Add sticky tape to the 3 1/2" sides and at the small clipped areas

 

 

If you would like to add designer paper, do so now on the 3 1/2" piece

 

Fold along all score lines.  Remove the red tape and fold up the 3 1/2" section and adhere into the top section

 

Fold the top 1/2" tabs down and your pencil box is complete

 

Decorate and add pencils!!

BAB

No I'm not babbling, but I just had to share a cute story.  I was bemoaning the fact that I couldn't go to the Stampin' Up 2009 Convention in Salt Lake City last week.  Feeling sorry for myself especially when they came out with the NEW Build-A-Bear that has the SU logo and the SU apron. 

My 10 year old Grandaughter, Emily, who is my helper at our club meetings, felt really sorry for me, so she made me an SU BAB bear.

 

Isn't that just precious?  I told her I was going to put it on my blog.  Oh, and the little card in the bear's hand says "This is Great!!"
