Jackie Topa's Stationery Box

Jackie Topa is an exceptionally talented stamper and I love looking at her blog.  She introduced this wonderful stationery box sometime back and I've been wanting to share it with my club members.

I showed one at my 80 Cards from one Simply Scrappin' Kit in October and my club members decided they wanted to do it at our first club meeting, which was November 20th.  It was great fun and quite a lot of work for the club members, but they were game!!

This set I made for my sister for Christmas.  Her bedroom is decorated in black and white toile!! Perfect.  Since Stampin' Up doesn't have any current black and white designer paper, I stamped my own!!  Could be done in any colors!!  I think it turned out beautifully!!

Mini Pizza Box

I found this darling little Mini Pizza Box which was shared by Jen del Muro on Splitcoast Stampers.  I have revised it just to add the measurements for the regular card sized box (A2 or 5 1/2 x 4 1/4).  You can download the pdf file here for the measurements.

At our 80 Card from one Simply Scrappin' Kit class in October, this was the "grand door prize" and Rose won it!!  Since she was the one who asked me for a box to put cards in, this was very appropriate!

Here's the box - it will easily fit 4 cards with their envelopes - and more although I haven't filled it that full as yet.

 

 

 

These are boxes are simple and fast to make.  For this one I used Pink Pirouette for the Box and added some Bella Blossom Designer Paper (112041, page 168).  I also added a a scallop circle cut with the Big Shot and Die Cut Scallolp Circle #2 (large one).  I then used a big flower and small flower from the Pretties Kit (109114, page 185).  I sponged them with Pink Pirouette Ink and also half pearls from the Pretties Kit.  Any questions, don't hesitate to email me.

The Perfect Bag

At our Stampin' Up Convention this summer, we learned how to make "The Perfect Bag".  So I have made up a little tutorial for you to be able to recreate your own bags for the holidays.  They are fast and can be made in any size/shape for the perfect gift!

Here's a picture of 4 I made this evening. 

  

We will start with the largest one made with Ski Slope Designer Series Paper and Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain ribbon

 

Supplies:  Ski Slope Designer Series Paper 2 sheets (12 x 12) of the same design (112994, page 12 2008 Holiday Mini Catalog)  Real Red 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon (109052, page 186) Sticky Strip (104294, page 191) Jumbo Eyelets Antique Brass (108431, page 184) Crop-A-Dile (108362, page 184)

 

Score both sheets of 12 x 12 designer paper at 2" on three sides and 1 1/2" on the top side.

 

Fold and crease the top 1 1/2" of both 12 x 12 sheets to the front side of your designer series paper (note below that the back side of my striped paper is brown and I have folded that to the front and using snail adhered it down)

 

Now crease all score lines.

 

Next put sticky tape on one side as below

 

Adhere both pieces together on this side

 

Then put sticky strip on other side - making sure your seams are facing the same direction (back of box)

 

You now have a box like this

 

Turn it bottom side up and fold in both sides (as if folding a gift package)

 

Place Sticky Strip on each long edge of the "triangles" you have made and fold over to finish bottom of box.

 

 

The bottom of your box should look like this

 

Using your Crop-A-Dile make holes with the with the 3/16" hold puncher and set your jumbo eyelets two on each side.  Add your ribbon for handles

 

Add some tissue paper and you have your Perfect Bag

Here are some other dimensions

 

I used Manchester designer series paper and cut two sheets 9 x 7 (first measurement will always be horizontal).  Score all 4 sides at 1".  Finished measurement is 7" x 5" x 1".  Excellent for small photo albums.

 

I used Holiday Treasures designer series paper and cut two sheets 9" x 9".  Score all four sides at 1". Finished measurements are 7" x 7" x 1".   Excellent for CD sets.

 

I used Parisian Summer  designer series paper and cut two sheets 8" x 5". Score three sides 1 1/2" and top side 1".  Finished measurements of bag are 5" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/2".  Perfect for small gifts.

You can increase the width of the bag by 1/2" by  adding 1" to the horizontal measurements and scoring at 1 1/2" instead of 1".

I lined up the Ski Slope Designer paper so it was diagonal in the punch - it wasn't hard to get them pretty even by making sure one corner was n the same place.  Then mounted these 4 squares on Whisper White Card stock - I just love this look!!  Am going to have to try this one again.

I love the way the cardinal turned out using the watercolor pencils.  The scan doesn't do him justice, but he is really quite shiny!!

This quilting idea I found on Splitcoast Stampers. 

I cut 6 - 1" pieces of the Parisian Summer. I also cut a 3" square and a 3 1/4" square of Bravo Burgundy.  Mount give 1" pieces in each corner and center of the 3" square.  Cut the last 1" square diagonally and then each triangle in half.  Each 1/4 piece is mounted in the center of the sides.  This piece is then mounted on teh 3 1/4" piece of Bravo  Burgundy!

Finally I'm able to post on my NEW BLOG

I'm sorry I've not posted for the last month and a half.  I've been taking a Blogger's Bootcamp from John Sanpietro, Stamping is my Business.  I have learned SO much and that is why I'm starting a new blog on a new service. 

To get started, I'm going to go back to our October Technique class which featured "O" and "P". 

Omitting was the first technique. 

I just love the fact that our stamps are so versatile.  

In the following two cards, I "omitted" "Father's" n the second card and came out with completely different card.  I did this by using my Stampin' Up Markers on the second (red) card and just used "Happy Day".  Definitely from masculine to feminine with just one stamp!!

With this card I didn't want the entire saying "May all your wishes come true!".  So I just "omitted" by using an Aqua Painter (103954 page 193) with Riding Hood Red classic ink and painted "Wishes" and then huffed and stamped it on my Pink Pirouette.  Notice the rectangle punch out?  I used my Square Scallop Punch  (112081 page 188) and punch one square and then slid my Riding Hood Red cardstock through and lined up the previous punches and punched again - Wallaaaa  - a rectangle scallop punch!! 

Our next techniques were Popping Pastels and Polished Stone - I HAD to share two this month because these are so fun to do.

Poppin' Pastels Technique

White Craft ink

Chalks

Sponge Daubers, Q-tips™ or other applicator for chalks

Dark cardstock

Swiffer™ towel or other paper towel

1.      Ink a solid image stamp with white pigment ink and stamp on dark cardstock.

2.       Twist a sponge dauber or Q-tip in the chalk color of choice and dab it over the stamped image.  No need to wait for the ink to dry.

3.       Continue to add colors to the stamped image until all ink is covered in chalk.

4.       Carefully wipe image with a Swiffer™ towel to remove excess chalk.

I stamped on the basic black card stock with White Craft Ink and then using a Q-tip I colored with the Stampin' Pastels.  I then cut up my stamped cardstock in 1" squares and lined them up and mounted them on pale plum card stock.  Really makes the colors POP

Polished Stone Technique

Soak a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol.
Add one or two drops of coordinating classic ink refills.

 

Tap the cotton ball over the Glossy White Cardstock, allowing the inks to spread and vein. 

 

Let dry before finishing card (doesn’t take long).
